Ableton Live roll call!!!!

just a tip for editing vocals, de-essing. think you can actually use a plug in to do this too

1. click the sample in live so it shows at the bottom

2. click E

3. select clip from the drop down

4. double click the red line and make three points fairly close together

5. drag the middle one down about to the middle

remember to do this on the peaks. these are usually esses and ppppffff noises that you dont want

voila

you can probably do this in any program - nothing special

When i finally figure this out.............i was just curious,if i make something in Live can i transfer it to another computer although it may not have the exact same sounds on the same drive?

Yes. Use freeze to account for any plugins that aren't installed on the other machine. Use the 'collect all and save' to round up all the samples and audio files used in the song. If you use third party samplers (like battery, kontakt etc) you can either freeze the track or save the battery kit/kontakt multi with samples into the same folder as the live set.

gotta love that feature in live, I have yet to try it out myself

Is there any way to record directly into the Drum Racks, instead recording into an audio track first and then dragging that clip into the drum racks?

No. That's a rare feature in software samplers.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

Why? Most software 'samplers' don't have a record feature, they only host samples for you to trigger.

Oh snap, I wonder if you can route audio from "Audio Track 1" directly into drum rack.

LvngDead, try something like Devine Machine One Shot Recorder. Its a plugin that you can insert into any track and capture samples, then all you have to do is drag and drop the samples onto the drumrack (or anywhere else in a live set that accepts sample drag and drop (which is everywhere), or even certain other software samplers like Battery and Guru).

if you have the same VSt's / AU's on the other computer you don't even have to freeze the tracks. First save the track to the desktop. This is for a very good reason later. Next. Like my man said collect and save(this is found under the "file" menu on MAC, not sure on Windows). After that, open the file menu again and click "manage files." this will open a window on the right side of Live. There is another menu to choose called "manage project." Here comes the reason why we saved it to the desktop. When saving to the desktop it creates a new folder with all of the samples used in the file / song / project. If you saved it in the normal place it saves the samples in a kind of group file with ALL of your other projects. SO when you click manage projects it scans all the audio files in ONLY THAT PROJECT. Towards the bottom there will be a button that says, "create Live pack." A Live pack is a kind of zipped file with ALL of your projects information, VST / AU settings / midi files / samples....EVERYTHING. Save the Live project to the desktop or whatever is convenient for you and then drag it to a thumb-drive or whatever your transferring method is. Then when you open it up on the other computer, it will ask you where to save the project (I just put it on the desktop for the time being) and then open it! IF it has all the other same VST's / AU's everything will EXACTLY the same as your other PC.

so once again...

save to desktop > collect all and save(file menu) > manage files(file menu) > manage projects(right hand side window) > create Live pack (towards bottom)

I am using an mpc 2500 with jjos2xl and ableton hooked up via midi using the correct way stated earlier in this thread.

All is cool apart from this, ok, say I am creating a drum track using a kit from ableton but sequencing in my mpc, so I can see the drums on the screen of my mpc, then lets say I realised one of the hi hats is off and I want to scroll to it and delete just that one hi hat, it deletes anything and everything that I scroll over.
