it's called Flex pitch...

Doesn't look like anything that great though. Seems like they are just playing catchup with Cubase and the other leaders.

Price is still great though $199 can't beat that really.

True, but there's those of us that bought 9 well before it was $199 and the box was filled a ton of crap no one wanted or needed. A $50 break on an upgrade would have been nice.

And I'm not really liking the death of any kind of bit bridge and jbridge being my only possible way to run 32 bit plugins.

You have a point, I don't use logic. I was basing it solely on the fact that my Cubase dongle cost me way more than $199 but my upgrades are about $199, so for a Cubase user this still seems like a good deal. I could upgrade or switch to logic for the same price (not that I'm going to).

I kind of like the 64bit only thing, it forces developers to make the switch. I think it should be standard by now and 32bit needs to be dumped eventually. It's a fair amount of resources developing both.

I do agree that most top plugs are already 64 bit or if not the developers need to get it done, and a major 64 bit only DAW might influence that.

But on the PC side you look at FL Studio and what they're doing is kind of reversing their prior architecture right now. They're making the app 64 bit native but will still have a bridge for the 32 bit stuff, basically the opposite of how it had been, but more likely to increase overall stability.

I think for me and many others the 32 bit thing is more about the fact that are some older plugins that still are very usable. But they are either no longer supported or were freeware from small to single person developers and no 64 bit version will ever be made. There's quite a few 5+ year old plugins that still hold their own.

I disagree to an extent on the resources needed to do both 32/64 bit concurrently, form a host or VST/AU developer standpoint. All these firms mastered 32 bit years ago. It's the larger instruction sets and oddly more complex GUI coding that makes 64 bit tougher. I think FL is still going to have the 32 bridge as it's dead easier to still include that.

Let's be real, have you seen iTunes 11? It removed at least 25 features that had been there for years. This is scarily becoming Apple's MO under Tim Cook. Simplify to such an extreme extent that 33% of the apps functionality might actually be gone, and no alternative features are in place to make up for the excised stuff.

You're right $199 is in line with a typical upgrade fee for any of the major DAWS. I personally just got caught in the net of buying Logic 9 For $499 and then they dropped it to $199 6 months later.

So what could I really do besides sell Logic 9+serial for $75? I have essentially a $500 paperweight box of DVD's if I go to Logic X.

I'm partial to my Snow Leopard OS so I'm glad to see that Apple didnt drop SL support with the new Logic X.

Convert to Sampler Track is available in Logic Pro 9 too.

Snow Leopard not supported in Logic Pro X.

You must have 10.8.4 or later, to run Logic Pro X.

I was about to say this. That kinda sucks if you're forced to upgrade your OS to 10.8.4 which has been out for just a month...Why?

I can relate.

They addressed some of my concerns with this release so I'm eager to try it out. Some of the more obscure and unanticipated features are actually pretty incentive, to me, for example Javascript scripting capabilities for MIDI effects. The interface looks great, akin to Pro Tools and I'm glad they've improved the metering. Hopefully they will add some of the ballistics and options that PT11 and Cubase 7 have, but even still a major improvement in that area. Lots of workflow improvements.

Has 32-bit float projects and true stereo panning (as opposed to a level balancing panner) been added? I'm not seeing it being mentioned from the things I've read so far. Also, can you now rearrange channels in the mixer directly without having to resort to the arrange window track list or the Environment?

Unfortunately, I see no signs of inherited DNA from the Redmatica acquisition.
