tracked out sounds dull

I have a bit of a dilemma. Ok so I made hip hop beats and for example ok i would use an mpc or Maschine to make my beats and it sounds really good in there. And I know it's in the red zone on the meters. But when I extract the audio into one of my Daws. It sounds so dry. Like before I like the way my 808 kinda interrupted the guitar sound a bit. Is there a way to kinda recreate that same sound when getting it mixed/masterd. The sound I like it's almost as it being layered. Its weird cause in mpc/machine all the sounds are individual and it sounds good but when I extract the audio files everything sounds dull and dry and i know it needs mixing but how do I get that same sound back. it lacks punch, how do i get that same sound, would the engineer have to mix the track around that 808 sound to get that sound. im not sure how to explain this, does anyone know what im talking about.

well if you are hearing it... it is possible to record it. You just gotta find a way.. unplug the speakers and plug into something that records so you can directly capture what you are hearing instead of exporting or extracting or what ever it is that is causing some change. otherwise you have to figure out what is going wrong or changing during the export process or what have you.

It sounds like your gain staging is wonky and needs addressing. In general you want to avoid the 'red zone' unless you're pushing your sounds through analogue gear, in which case the end result can be more forgiving.

Try dropping your levels in Maschine and tracking out again. As tempting as it is to constantly want sounds to be loud and saturated, I find it's better to achieve it in a DAW with gradual steps between processes.
