reaper v. 2.020: MTC sync and more (see last page)

Reaper 2.0 is about to get released.
the beta is available publicly.

as soon as 2.0 is released, there will be an increase in registration costs. i don't know how much. for now, you can still get the program fully registered for 40 dollars us.

i REALLY, REALLY recommend this program. i'm running an incredibly outdated daw right now, very slow and shakey. however, Reaper has such a small impact on system resources that you can just RUN it. after tracking out one of my newer beats on Reaper (finally getting some post-mpc work in) i immediately bought my registration code.

this program is fantastic. the grouping function, the mixer, the routing...and with 2.0 comes a bunch of great additions (more functional GUI, better automation, etc).

really worth it.

i haven't done it yet, but yes, according to a video i was watching it does. apparently its routing is its most beloved feature. i am trying to post the video but all the sudden my internet here at school is slowing down...

Yea good look on this.... loved reaper, but I couldnt keep up with it I hate things that I have to update all the time and for a while it seemed like as soon as I installed the newest version a day later there was another "new release"....with bug fix's etc.

I like it because it was so much like acid but with out ALOT of the useless features and junk....I'd pay no question, but I'm really looking forward to seeing/getting a stable version that I wont have to upgrade every other day...

Same thing with the damn JJ OS for the 2500 I have wanted to purchase that for so long, but all I hear about is bugs and version upgrades all the damn time...when I can actually make time to create music, I want to do just that create...not spend my creating time focused on version upgrades and what not....

with that youtube link, things are looking VERy promosing with Reaper but lmfao this guy is frickin goofball though...

just buy the JJ OS, install the latest version, and just don't even worry about updating.

It's usually worth it to upgrade, but it's most often not necessary unless some huge bug comes up, and this doesn't happen very often.

your first problem is that you were running internet on a DAW computer but you know that already. i run it on my laptop in addition to my DAW and yes, when you're ripping and goddamn roaring and ready to work on some music, it's like "oh, update? hmm"

however, perspective. this a 2.4 installer we're talking about. re installation aka updating takes under a minute even on my slow ass slow daw and laptop. if you choose to update - which imo you should and be damn happy about it - you're back in business in no time.

brief comparison -

<1 minute to a four hour session (with maybe a short break for dinner). in the long haul, it ain't costing you much - certainly not "spending creating time focused on version upgrades." BUT if you are getting that hung up on it where you're still worried about it an hour later, maybe it's a good idea to uncheck the "notify me about update" box. OR they should do it so it checks for updates when you try to exit instead of when you start.

hyena - tricky, yes the first time - however, you can save all tracks/setups as presets to use as many times as you want. not to mention all hotkeys are user definable. a glorious thing.

thedvs01 - I have wanted to for awhile, but then i jump in the 2500's forums for the OS and it seems like all they talk about are all the damn problems so I'm like is it worth spending money on a headache? or so it seems...I was hearing people saving and losing projects and freezing wheeew all kinds of things that are like my worst nightmare...

first off yea man I know its not a BIG deal but it's a little thing and for some reason for ME the little things are what erk me the most...So were in the studio getting right, every body locked and loaded, having a good time ready to get things in movement....then BING! update! BING! update.. bla bla bla and although sometimes it may only take a few minutes...it's....it's...a few minutes to many...lol...

I mean you go stumblin around with the jimmy cap wrap when your about to jump in the happy sac, that couple minutes could be detrimental lol...

I just ran across this program last night. Installed it on a new jump drive. This is a nice program and everyone should look into it. I think it will still run without being registered (for all the cheap-o"s) but registration is only $50.00!! I think this is a damn good program for $50.00!!

Runs link a dream on my 2GIG jump drive. ReWires like it should. I'm impressed.

I tried to install Reaper on my studio PC (not internet connected), and I got this checksum error or something. It said I could still install it if I used the /NCRC option from the command line, but I'm not real keen on the idea of turning off something design to catch errors.

Has anyone else experienced this? It might be the PC because I had problems installing the .Net framework on this same machine.

Ive installed it on a Think Pad, Jump Drive and an old Compaq (5xxghz, 128mb, 10 gig) to test a few thins out and they all worked fine. I wouldnt install it on my main music PC. Maybe you should try the jump drive route, or even a SD card or something like that.
