Firmware problem 1.10v

Hello mates,

I´m trying to upload the firmware 1.10 and i´m having problems.
I follow every step from the instructions . i disconnect every usb,audio cable.... then it shows a message saying that the upload has been done, everything fine!, i restart my computer ,open mpc software and show me again the alert that i have to upload the firmware...

Any suggestion?

Unfortunately try a different PC/MAC. That was the only way many of us were able to do it.

Another question please.. I scan for the vst´s in preference in /audio /plugins/ vst folder then start loading until mpc sofware closes unexpectedly! i Open again mpc software and there are just the 4 expansions of the ren and 4 vst, a lot from the folder are missing. do you know something about?

i had trouble with the firmware too, tried it on another computer and that one didn't work either.

i got it working in the end by trying to install it, following directions exactly, then like you said it kept saying the update was done even though there had been no change. THEN i ran the update software again, this time completely ignoring the instructions, like i left it turned on from the end of the first (failed) update attempt, then the second update attempt when it told me to turn it off, turn it on holding shift etc. etc. i just straight ignored it and kept clicking OK.

after doing it that way, during the second install the ren's lights were going like crazy. you'll know that it's updating it for real because the Q-LINK lights start scrolling and filling up their bars, and if i remember correctly a bunch of pads change colour as well. when i followed their instructions the ren didn't do any of that, it only happened like i said, after i installed it once following instructions, then without turning the ren off immediately try to install it again ignoring all instructions and clicking OK whenever a dialog box appeared

I was worried about bricking my ren if i **** around with stuff like that, but it worked out okay for me. **NOTE** I do not work for akai and am no expert when it comes to firmware or any of this stuff... just sharing my anecdotal experience, I WILL NOT REPLACE YOUR REN IF YOU BRICK IT OK I JUST LOST MY JOB SO I'M BROKE SORRY DOG

I came in at V 1.4 and have yet to do any firmware update. I guess I don't require it so I keep pushing along without it...

I tried With another computer but without success, are there many changes from the 1.01 firmware to 1.10?? Is it worth it?

Is 1.10 needed for MIDI Control Mode, I think I remember reading that it was the main difference?

I tried from two different computers several times. No go. I'm about ready to try fdodds method. For the first time since I bought the REN, I'm glad I bought the Guitar Center extended warranty in case I brick it.

I kept getting can't find hardware or something similar ,so I ignored the instructions of quit all programmes and kept the mpc software running, it then could find the hardware and update the firmware.

Correct. i do no use midi controller mode so I have no need to hose my setup by updating the firmware

I updated my Studio firmware two days ago on my Mac and ran into the same problems. I went back through some older topics and found this, I followed it exactly and it worked the first time:

Wish you all good luck!! (I've contacted AKAI support but no answer, went to the local reseller and found out that I got guarantee left, but i thought i would give it some more tries before i send it to akai in Sweden, and boom it worked)

Can definitely confirm that the update should be carried out using Akai's suggested method - the switching on whilst holding down the shift key etc. It worked for me. BE CAREFUL AND FOLLOW THE PROCEEDURE CAREFULLY!!

you're confirming that you should follow akai's instructions even after a huge amount of users have been saying for months that their instructions do not work at all, even trying them on multiple computers?
