ok, so seeing how we have some akai folks checking out these threads, i thought it would be cool if maybe we could all drop some knowledge of what we expect out of the new mpcs workflow wise.

we all know a basic "mpc workflow" but since we all use the mpc slightly differant, i think there are some nuances that could either be missed or glossed over.

lets help akai get this right!

so we have a feature requests thread, but I'm talking more like shortcuts, workflow, and how you interact/work with those features. so here is the question:

what are some of the workflow things you want the new mpc to have (from your older mpc and/or new from maschine, or ableton, etc.)?

maybe start by describing how you go about making your beat, and then describing the main things the mpc has to accomplish that process...

from what im seeing here looks like its gonna be standard issue, for all intents and purposes when using the re controller ur gonna feel like ur working on a standard mpc

though some cool notes:

on the MPC3000, if you had COUNT IN on, and hit a pad before the downbeat, it placed the hit on the one. we're going to do that.

also, you can erase without being in record or overdub now, which is nice.

My 4k and 2kxl do that now, it's always been like that for me. Cool for kicks, but during the count it I wanna check to make sure I'm on the correct pad I hit it once (snr) and then after recording I end up with a snare on the very first tick (downbeat), lmao. I've always had to go back and edit it out, not hard to do though.

One of the main things that matters most to me is being able to do almost any function without stopping the sequencer playback. Like loading kits and samples, chopping/editing samples, editing notes and note parameters/transposition etc, reversing a sample, adding plugins, building a song mode, saving the project, etc. Basically the only thing the sequence should have to be stopped for is for sampling in. Real time timestretch will also be highly welcomed, but not really a necessity for me, as long as there is some form of timestretch.

Keeping the number keypad was a really great decision, as we don't have to jump to the keyboard to key in parameters.
