Some Maschine workflow I would like in Ren

like even myself i would not buy the white ore blue mpc4k but i would cop the black one and that me knowing that that the featuresets are all the same and been involved in pproduction for 10-12 years.

Looks like you are getting the ren as is. So I guess you are gonna get a custom black ren or wait for a black one.

On a Mac, I have my Apollo set as the default audio device. So when I go to You Tube, audio is routed to my Apollo's outputs.

Within Maschine, in the Audio and MIDI settings preference, Apollo is set as my Audio Device. Next, I click on the Routing tab and the Inputs tab. Maschine gives you 8 MONO audio inputs. In the left column, you see Maschine in 1 L, Maschine in 1 R, Maschine in 2L, Maschine in 2 R, etc. In the right column, it identifies channels of your audio card. This can be changed as you see fit. You simply click on a channel's name or "not selected" (if no channel has been selected). This will open up a drop-down menu with all the available devices on your system you can set as input. In the case of my Apollo, I have 28 options to include its Outputs (Mon L & Mon R). So I set Maschine in 1 L and 1 R as Mon L and Mon R (Apollos Monitor Outputs). Now any software program/application on my computer system that has Apollo as the default audio device can be used to sample directly into Maschine as Mascine Inputs=Apollo's Outputs.


Now with the MPC Ren having a built in audio interface...I assume you can set the Ren as your systems audio device to play back You Tube. If the Ren can sample its outputs like the last few MPCs, its possible you could record directly from the internet into the Ren.

Jah you're the man! I just copped the apollo and I use to have the 003r and I couldn't do this before. I just did it and now this saves me all kinds of time. I don't usually sample from the net but when I did I was using this program called Piezo. I thought it was the best until I just did what you described and I'm sampling into maschine straight up now. Good looking out

Honestly, that's not how I approach the technology I buy. Of all the apple products I own, I haven't bought any of them because of looks. I bought them purely on the function. I mean, a MacBook looks plain as hell. The glowing apple on the back is about the coolest cosmetic thing about it. I'm not really into the color orange and don't think it really goes that great with blue (outside of the NBA), but Maschine is dope and I like the function. If the 4K was the best drum machine on the planet, I wouldn't let the color keep me from buying it. But that's just me!

People buy dope ugly gear all the time. That's why customization is so popular.

i see ur point both view have merit u a serious producer, there are peeps who aint as serious who are more into it as it has been marketed.

like some peeps only started producing when scratch magazine came out.

me im serious and will continue to do it but unfortunately i dont make a living from my interest so when i buy something i still have a semi-consumerist approach hence the look and the feel of the interface is important to me.

Definitely! Same here! I hate the original tan color of the the older MPC's and always have! But back in 01 when I got my XL, it was basically the best thing out! So I wasn't not gonna buy it! And man, I was MAD when they dropped the silver and blue ones a couple years later! I was like, Akai!!! But seriously, basically, the only thing that would keep me from buying a dope piece of gear I think is if it only came in a hot pussy pink color!

No problem. I would like to add this function to Blue Haze's list.

I`m bumping this thread again to give some background on the request and features I and Dan talked about back in the beginning of the year. Now this thread I made was how to add to the REN not to change the entirely system but you can get a gist of what is wanted by alot of users.

Yes I intended from the beginning to get a REN as it is fine for a computer based studio setup. I already used maschine along with my 4k. Just using mpc sequencer is way better fit for my workflow.
