Ren as VST in Ableton LIVE?

How do I get this to work?

Yes I did try re-scanning.
At least I think I did...

Trash you Live preferences file. I've had VST/AU not scan in Live on both OS's. They would not scan even on re-installs.

By trashing your preferences file you may have to unlock Live again, and for legitimate licenses Ableton will freeze your unlocks after a certain amount. An email to them and they will reset your unlocks usually within 24 hours.

Click on your start button in the lower left corner
in the search bar type "Folder Options"
Hit Enter (or click on the top folder that appears from the search)
Go to "View"
Scroll down and enable the "Show hidden files and folders" and click "apply".

Delete this file -

C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 8.1.1\Preferences

or try:

C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\your version of live\Preferences

I don't know if that will solve the issue, but I can't think of what else you can try as it seems Ableton's scan is the issue, not your Ren software install. Do you have another host app to test the VST being properly installed? If not grab a Reaper demo and see if it loads in there just to check the install integrity.

I have Reaper actually. that's a good idea.
Does is matter what edition of Ableton I have.
I am running 8 something ....it's not the latest.

No the Live version shouldn't make a difference. Like I mentioned I had it happen too. For me it was Omnisphere, ElectraX, and a Xils Lab synth that never would scan. It was totally random and in all 3 cases the installs were error free. I hope they can elaborate on what the issue is. I never pinpointed what caused it even having fixed it before.
