So we've had 1.3 for weeks now. There's a couple of observations I'd like to share.

Since the day I installed 1.3, I've had fewer crashes a week than I did with 1.0-1.2. Since that first day, I've had no crashes. Now initially when I installed it, it crashed a twice moments afterward. It hasn't since then.

The initial install of 1.3 was on my Macbook Pro with 10.6.8 and it ran good. I then later installed it on my iMac with 10.8.2, and it runs great. I've since updated the OS on the MBP, and it functions the same, leading me to confirm that updating the OS makes no real difference in performance (random note: see my PS at the bottom). The extra power of the iMac really made a difference. I run Kontakt with all kinds of heavy sample library instruments layered on top of each other and have no problems (anyone here use Kontakt's memory server?)
With the 3.1ghz i7, nothing ever slows down. I don't get any crackling. All kinda inserts, plugins, sequences, and everything runs ok.

Of course there are bugs and several things that can be better (see my posts in any feature request or bug report thread), but as of now, weeks into 1.3, everything seems stable for the most part. I'm just coasting and creating. I'm able to concentrate more on being creative rather than doing too much dodging of bug booby traps or doing long work arounds.

In no way am I ignoring or negating the problems I see from some of the users consistently on this forum. Especially Windows users' problems. I'm just speaking purely on my experience in the last few weeks, given how I use the MPC and my workflow.

PS. One interesting thing I noticed: The bug regarding the Q Links and adjusting the outputs any track or sound is output'ed to, doesn't happen on my iMac. Still happens on the Macbook though. :hmmm:

Good write up

I'm having fun with the ren too, and 1.3 had lots of good improvements akai.. Keep it up!

Just keep reading feedback too cause there's still a ways to go!

Peace

Glad to hear the positive remarks.

Picked up a 09 Mac Pro, put in an ssd drive to boot with 3 other internals, installed all my software again and haven't been able to use 1.3 yet.

12 hour work days suck. :Sigh:

I'm using windows 7 and other than that Q-link/output assign issue I haven't really experienced any real problems. I can use multiple plugins (including omnisphere and kontakt) with no troubles (with the exception of Sampletank). The REN works pretty well for me.
There are a bunch of features that Akai needs to implement though, 2 big ones for me are system exclusive record/send and "play as recorded" function. I know there's only about 5-6 guys working in Akai's software development for the REN but I would like to see them maybe a few more people (even if only temporary) to help quickly implement all the features that the REN should currently have and then start developing all the new features that they want to add.
