Things that I would like taken care of before new features a

I think Akai is doing a good job so far as far as what they've done with the Ren but I also realize that there are several things that should be implemented or at the very least things that I would like to see added (basic features). I know Akai is only working with a 5-6 man software crew but if they could temporarily hire more guys just until they get all the basic features taken of then that what be a great thing. Here are some basic features that I would like to see (and feel free to add your own).

1) make the mixer a full fledged mixer (track naming, correct gain staging, auxes, ect.)
2) "play as recorded" feature (that was in the MPC4000)
3) full automation to include master volume/effects
4) AD/AHD envelope
5) side chaining
6) the ability to be able to use special characters in track/sequence/song naming (', !, ", ect.)
7) midi import/pattern import on a per track basis
system exclusive (this is a biggie for using external sound modules)
9) drag and drop
10) re-ordering effect positions
11) re-ordering tracks (i.e. moving your kick from track 15 to track 1 in the mixer)
12) a more indepth manual (this manual seems more like a quick start manual)
13) better implementation of the browser folders
14) ability to adjust the track volume on the main screen
15) better template structure (so you can save several different templates and recall them rather easily)
16) a better duplication process
17) not having to resave samples that are already on your hard drive each time you save a project. I have my "Kit 1" saved on my hard drive atleast 150 times. (please correct this)

I know this is a long list but I would really like for them to take care of these basic features first before adding new features. Feel free to add anything that I may have missed.

Seems like we all got personal lists... here is mine, see how long the thread lasts, last time my shit was locked down

GENERAL:

As an veteran MPC user i would expect pressing WINDOW to certain places to give me options, on the MPC Soft i find myself pressing WINDOW too many times and nothing happens.

SAMPLE EDIT

- Highlight Sample Name, Press Window, Delete Sample
- List of Samples on the Hardware, with option to delete & rename
- Timestretch: I want to be able to load a chop, say its 1 bar, 2 bars or even 1/4 of a bar long and it needs to give me the BPM, once i have the calculated BPM i can say: now timestretch it to BPM XX of what i need. Timestretch to me is broken incomplete unless it can do this. (Say something if its already possible)

SEQUENCER

- list editor
- grid editor
- real time swing

CHOP in SAMPLE EDIT:

- Note repeat in Audition mode not working
- Slice using CHOP function, unable to split a slice further using another mode, lets say start with region mode, then slice and continue with transient mode all from 1 screen, end result should be converter to PGM.

BROWSER

- loading a sample stops the sequence co'mon?
- loading PGM stops sequencer
- loading a sample from BROWSER on hardware replaced 8th PAD sample with the newly loaded one.. wtf

PLUGINS

- bypass button within plugin but also enable deactivate plugin without clicking on it
- copy plugins from slot to another, move plugin from one slot to another ie. eq before comp, move Eq after compressor without reloading the EQ and settings
- show sample delay incurred by plugin
- save presets

BONUS:

- each vintage mode as individual EFFECT plugins, restrict it to MPC software only if you must cool with that..

It's cool, no disrespect taken.

I'll admit numbers (5, 9, 14, 16) side chaining, drag/drop, adjust volume on main screen, and duplication are new features (that really should be part of the Ren) but all the rest should already be included in the Ren. I mean if the Ren was created basically from scratch why would they not include "playback as recorded" feature, system exclusive, midi import, full automation, not having to resave samples that already exist on your hard drive, and not being able to use special characters when saving song names. I really don't understand that, it's like going to shoot some ball and forgetting to bring your shorts , yeah you can still shoot but it's like "why didn't you bring your shorts when you knew you were going to shoot ball?".
Some of the other features I can see maybe it slipped their mind or maybe it would've taken too long to implement (like a full fledged mixer, side chaining, drag/drop) but some of the things are almost no brainers. Don't get me wrong I still think Akai's software guys are doing a good job but I'm just saying that if they temporarily hired a little more help just until they get all the incidental features implemented then that would be a good thing.

i copped the Studio a week ago have used it 10 times since, I will buy a MPC3000 in addition to my MPC4000 from what i can see now

notice how much i like using analog outputs and that going to my PT rig, it makes a slight difference in sound i just like that

Studio is cool for mobile use and I will use it when i travel but ultimately the software will never replace a 4000 or 3000

well at this point it far surpasses any and all option on 3000, and all but a few {granted very important} on 4000.

Its a matter of productivity, functions r no good if you can't access em easily
