"going into the red" in vintage modes

For some reason, I feel like there is more "vintage mode" saturation when going into the red on the mixer than there is clipping. On drums, mostly. I feel like they're a lot punchier. When I turn off the vintage mode and it goes into the red, it sounds like a clipping mess, but when I have MPC60 mode on, it sounds really warm and punchy (not like tape, just grittier). Is this how the vintage mode works? The higher the level, the more saturation?

Not sure but MPC60 is my favorite mode. Everything just "bangs" in that mode

Agreed.

Before the 1.3 update 3000 mode sounded a little to compressed but I love it .The 60 crashing the kicks which I like .

I have this issue also. spec with mpc60 mode.

I make all my tracks with MPC60 mode. It sounds really good.

I have to admit I like getting the Ren into clipping sometimes for it sometimes produces just that extra bit of ugly distortion your sample might be missing. Vintage modes tend to mess up your overall master level nonetheless. But I really do like the way the Ren clips, whether its input or output or VM or not, it sometimes sounds just right.
