Hello I would like to know how to use my mpc renaissance cubase. I'd use the MPC as a slave on cubase and do only my rhythm above then continue my other MIDI tracks with my instruments cubase .. it looks to me very complicated

Should I use DAW?

Thank you for your answer

Hi, You should not perform in Cubase since the renaissance Plugin hasn't good VST Instrument capabilities and doesn't really work as a Midi Controller in CUBASE or any other DAW. :WTF: :Sigh:

It let you 2 solutions :

- Track in the MPC Software with program and VSTi then export stems in waves files when finished sequencing for mixing and arranging. :smoker:

or :

- Track in the MPC Software with program and VSTi, save it, Then re-open your project in Cubase in the MPC plugin, Route your MPC track to the cubase mixer for mixing with your DAW. You can also put audio, midi tracks and Vsti tracks over your MPC project. 8)

That's All... I was a bit disappointed to at the beginning, but it's just a different way to work and to think your projects.

In fact, you will see that the MPC sequencer is great and quicker to use than Cubase for recording Midi and using it with VSTi since 1.31, is Stable. :-D

The weak point of the MPC sequencer is the mixer, the routing and the Automation system. This is where Cubase is very Great. It could had been a good combo, this is why I was one of these enthusiast early owner, but unfortunately the plugin mode is not what I expected to... :Sigh:

I'm sure, some update will change these MPC software weakness. Or the MPC plugin control from the DAW ( Better syncing, Full assignable Midi control and multiple program control ) We got to wait for this...

I have the opposite experience. I have videos posted online how to use the Ren with Pro Tools. While I choose to use the Ren in standalone mode, I can create beats with it as a RTAS pluging within Pro Tools just fine. This includes using the Ren's Transport buttons to start/stop Pro Tools sequencer as well as arm the Ren to Record.

I can sequence VSTs with the Ren plugin. I can also as sequence plugin instruments inserted on Pro Tools tracks directly from the Ren plugin.

Yes, but it not work :hmmm:

when I open my MPC Renaissance on Cubase mode "MPC" I can compose my WAV software mode "MPC" but it does not record MIDI on my cubase ..

There's also the "MIDI" and "PLUGIN" on the MPC software but when I activate it's worse because I can not even load and play my drums ..

In fact I used cubase on windows 7 with a sound card DigiRack 002 .. all my plugins are perfectly fine.

At first what mode should I open "MPC - MIDI - PLUGIN"?

MODE:

MPC: it does not copy the notes on my program but in cubase software MPC

MIDI: I can not play the drums I load ..

PLUGIN: I 4 vst supplied with the MPC Renaissance but for the moment I do not use ..

I am downloading Cubase 7 30 Day Trial version now. I will see if I can come up with a way for you to use your Ren effectively with it.

You can record midi in cubase by making your loop etc in mpc seq then change mpc to midi on your mpc track in cubase set the midi in to mpc 1 do not set the out as this causes some sort conflict hit record/play in cubase u will hear no sound but the midi data for the beat u made is being sent to the cubase track stop rec switch the midi out on cubase track to mpc1 go to mpc and set that back to mpc from midi mode .turn loop off in mpc . I can record my midi like this its not ideal and could be better I have my mpc set to plug-in not daw so the mpc rec button don't control cubase
maybe jah can have a play around with it in the trial he's downloaded and see if he can get it to work better or not then maybe he can report it to akai for us cubase users also can anyone re size the mpc window in cubase mines still to big for my screen
Big up to jah for downloading cubase 7

Cubase is almost finished downloading....but, what you wrote above is exactly how the Ren is suppose to work unless I am misunderstanding you. What is not ideal? How can it be better?

I think it could be better
1. not having to change the midi ports in cubase when u want to record /play
2 . Not having to change mpc to midi to record in cubase maybe they could make it record midi into both daws at once from mpc setting leaving the user to either hit record on mpc to record into mpc daw not starting record in cubase or hit record in cubase not starting record in mpc so you can record a pre made beat or record straight into cubase hearing the sound
3. Rewire just use mpc programme no seq like I use to use reason
There prob reasons its done the way it done I don't know maybe you'd lose the swing and quantise by by-passing the mpc daw seq
I dont mind using it this way It's just seems more complicated than it should
Personally my only gripe is THE RESIZING OF THE VST WINDOW it's getting annoying now
Do u have any info on the next update
Cheers

I am not sure I am understanding you. Is there a plugin on the market which accomplishes what you are describing as an example? Or can you be more specific?

Currently, the Ren has virtual outputs which can send its MPC and Plugin instruments tracks to your DAW to record as audio. MIDI Tracks can be sent to your DAW to record as MIDI. Both Audio and MIDI can be exported from the Ren and imported into your DAW. It only makes sense that when recording MIDI into your DAW, you have to select a source. When set-up properly, your can record 16 MIDI tracks and 8 stereo audio tracks from the Ren directly into your DAW in one pass.

still no solution to my problem .. :hmmm: :hmmm:

Is it easier with NI Maschine? because the program akai me looks complicated or it's me who can not find.

Sorry should state I have a mpc studio
I have no problem with audio I have 8 channels
I understand you have to route signals midi in out and I can get 16 channels of midi
Not that I have
I'm just saying u make your loop pattern etc with mpc type set to mpc then u have to change that to midi then go to cubase set midi in to mpc midi out
You then have to make sure cubase midi out is set to not connected you can set it to the iac mpc mmc port it does nothing but you can't set it to the mpc midi in port because it cause an overload of midi data also when u remove the mpc midi in u can't call up the vst from the edit instruments button . So now you record midi data with no sound once its done set the cubase output to midi in set the mpc back to mpc type you have to turn loop off otherwise the mpc will just loop I just think its long winded u have to keep changing ports to record/playback.
Im still learning the mpc side of it so I haven't done export midi audio just been using it in cubase as a plug in
I use to rewire reason in cubase and it would bypass the reason seq and your loaded instruments would show up on cubase output channels then you would record midi data in cubase triggering the reason plugins
Or it could work like groove agent does in cubase try it if its in the demo
Cubase with reason is the only software ive used other than Steinberg vsti
My motif xf and now the mpc studio

I worked out how to record midi but it took a bit of trial an error and there's not much to read on the net about setting it up all I found was what I read on note repeat which is a bit misleading ,other people have had problems getting it from what I've read
Sorry if u can't understand my messages as I may be not explaining myself fully
Have a play with cubase and let me know what u think I'll be interested in your opinion how does compare to pro tools or other daws

Thanks

Load your mpc in vst instruments create a midi track when cubase asked you to
I take it you have installed the mpc midi port driver that came with the update
There's a PDF that shows u how to set up cubase mmc do this if you haven't get the XML for the transport pm me and I'll email it to u if you haven't got it . Make sure your midi ports are set properly in cubase turn 'all in'
off the mpc ports.
On your cubase midi track set the input ( top one) to mpc 1 midi out
Set output to not connected
Go to mpc plug in set it to mpc pick a drum kit at the top of the page go to edit then preferences and set the mpc to plug- in instead of daw don't get this confused with the mpc type setting box near the drum pads
Make a loop drum pattern in the mpc sequencer 2 bars on one track you can use other tracks to record different things on different tracks but at the mo just use one
Change mpc to midi
Go to cubase turn loop off , set a two bar offset at the start of your project and then set a two bar loop press record in cubase this should start the mpc u will hear no sound u should see a midi signal in the track moniter once you've recorded a couple of bars stop cubase
Set the cubase midi out to mpc midi in ( the one you disconnected )
Go to mpc change the mpc type back to mpc from midi turn loop off on mpc
Now start cubase this will start mpc aswell u will hear mpc play for the duration of the 2 bars u set in it in it will then stop in cubase this will be in your two bar offset (so make sure u trim what u recorded in cubase so it starts on zero, )cubase will continue to play u should now here mpc being triggered by cubase u can know edit that loop duplicate it separate the different drum sounds samples on to a duplicate of the cubase track u can pencil in extra bits etc or you can go back to the mpc and make another loop or a fill on another track or sequence and then record that into cubase to
U can only use one drum kit but I think u can add other samples to the other banks individually

This is how I do it if anyone has a better way let us know
