Dont Have Windows 7 ! Cant Use Disks (The Bank, The Wub ect.

Simple lesson learned I hope. When buying software it is always important to first check what are the minimal computer os and memory requirements.

Um, yea, this topic is about loading the Vst's disks on win XP. My topic was for people actually running Ren on XP ...... And yes, I do currently have the Ren software running on win XP.

Just curious to see if anyone is using the MPC Renaissance on the Windows XP OS.

Anyone have the software on both XP and W7 share some details of performance differences (latency)?

Any issues you've run into because of OS compatibility?


I know the included Vst's are W7 only.




My situation is like this...... The "computer". I plan on running Ren on is an Open Labs unit..... Which they are currently advertising their win 7 upgrade for $399. Somewhat overpriced??? Maybe.... So basically my ONLY option (at the moment) is to continue to run Ren on XP until..... A: updates kill XP compatibility. Or B: upgrading my OL unit, or buying a Mac with 10.6 OS (which would be after Christmas) to run the MPC.

I would rather continue running on XP because my OL unit has all my samples/plugins until the Christmas squeeze is over.and I can buy a Mac.

I eventually will do the win 7 upgrade on my OL, but backups/restores aren't 100% so there's a big risk of losing files.

Reinstalling things like Komplete, etc is very time consuming too....rather be making music.

The common denominator here is...Win XP, but also not running the minimum spec OS Win7. It's easier to keep track of such issues by keeping the posts in a single thread if possible.

The Open Labs upgrade to Win7 sounds like a good ol' fashioned rip off, and they aren't shifting much product to be honest at those prices. The units have become expensive white elephants for people with deep pockets. I'll take a good laptop, workstation keyboard and a decent MPC any day...

Maybe you could share your experiences of using the Ren on Win XP, I doubt a lot of people are actually doing that unless they are in a similar situation to you.

Yea, the OL win(7 64 bit) upgrade's selling point is that they re-install all of the sounds included with your system. I think that they retain the licenses on the included software, so you have no install disks or product keys for plugins and such. So, you HAVE to come back to them to upgrade, or risk losing all your sounds/plugs included.

The Ren, however has been manageable for the moment. I installed 1.1 and the roaches turned to termites so to speak, so I reverted back to 1.0.

I have only been using samples for now until I can get back to the studio, then I will be able to test out some 3rd party plugins.

On my home PC, if I get straight to it, from power on, to MPC software, it remains solid for the most part.

If I use other programs and then try to run the MPC, I get the AISO malfunctioning, and the software can disconnect from the hardware.

It seems a PC restart straight to MPC and I'm good.

How did you get the driver to work with XP? Are you running SP2 or SP3? Can you email me the driver?
