Interesting that the insurance company didn't just pay your claim?
Normally replacement cost means they pay you the amount needed to replace the item not source the item for you.
Probably their way of cutting down or people trying to scam for straight cash.
Actually it's quite common for insurance companies to replace items rather than pay a cheque. They normally get electronic items a lot cheaper than you or I would. If it was a major claim ie a house fire or flood, then they'd look to pay a one off cheque.
