Soundflower Problems

Using MPC Studio. I'm sampling from itunes through Soundflower, following all the proper steps I can find through youtube/tutorial pages. I get a digital clipping/popping sound on nearly everything I try to sample in. Anyone have any suggestions? I see there's an older thread about this, but maybe now that we're on 1.5 someone might have some newer advice.

Actually, everything I run through soundflower has a clipping/popping. I have a macbook pro running osx 10.7.5, using the appropriate version of Soundflower. Or any other suggestions for sampling this way? I tried that jackosx thing also and it won't work in the MPC software for some reason. This sucks. Help!

Start Soundflowerbed, then a logo appears in the top right. Click on it, select the respective config (2 vs. 16 / 64 channels) and then under BUFFER SIZE try selecting a higher value. Higher values mean that there's more pre-buffer when calculating audio, although this may result in noticable latencies. So don't go higher = better, but a buffer size around 256-1024 should be okay.

Afterwards I suggest setting the MPC buffer size to the same value. Sometimes the software can be a bit faulty with the onboard sound, so deselecting the input device and setting it back to its former value normally does the trick. You might need to repeat this last step from time to time.

Sometimes it's annoying as hell, sometimes it's just perfect and no mistake.

EDIT: Maybe start with deselecting and reselecting first.

Seems to be working! One thing I noticed also is putting the Soundflower 16ch into Built-In output helped. Before I had just had it on None (off). Works for now! Thanks!

Be careful not to monitor twice! If you activate Soundflowerbed's Output to e.g. Built-In Input while monitoring MPC software on the same output, you might hear the sound twice (as loud)...

So you mean if I choose built-in output on Soundflower 2 ch and Soundflower 16 ch, than it could get really loud/cause feedback?

Might be. Select "none" if you want to track and sample etc. and select an output as long as you e.g. just *watch* youtube videos - but then it'd be easier to set the system's output to your physical one instead of Soundflower.

If you track it via your DAW AND your Soundflower output, it'll come out twice with undesired effects (louder, comb filtered, ...)
