I hate the way it's set up so we have to manually assign everything, I don't know all this midi CC crap #'s and stuff!!! Do you!?!? ALSO how has anyone been able to utilize this new feature besides just controlling stop and play for your DAW? I use the Renaissance software, not the mpc plugin, is this mainly for people using the mpc plug-in??? How has anyone utilized this? Anyone use it with Pro Tools? It seems like a headache and when we asked for a midi control mode I don't think we were asking to manually assign every single button one at a time we want to use, you guys really couldn't just make controller templates for major daws such as pt, logic, cubase, ableton, etc.. Everything in these new(now old) updates seems so half assed unthought.

I have to say, that the midi mode is useless.....we need a stand alone app to create our own templates and a stand alone function.....I have tried the midi mode....but most of the time I use Maschines midi mode.....I can use it as an universal midi controller and create my own templates...hope the will release a stand alone app or function for the MPC REN/Studio....

I feel it's half assed in a way where you have midi control mode, but the plugin isn't multitimbral... Meaning, in midi control mode , i want the midi to input into the daw, and then those events are routed back into the mpc plugin to trigger those pgms...
Multitimbral means that the plugin can receive multiple channels of midi and that each track inside the mpc are assigned to specific midi channels...

A plus about this is that you could route and send that same midi clip or track that is inside the daw to other plugins(other than mpc software)
Some people prefer editing or arranging in the daw..

I've setup reaper with midi control mode so i can rearrange seqments or regions(song mode in reaper if you like) using the pads in midi mode... Almost every action in reaper can be assigned to midi, i can basically not touch the mouse or keyboard and arrange in reaper with the ren in midi mode... But because there's no multitibral support I'm stuck... It's why i still use jjos for this job.

Why do it this way? Because the daw is a much better tape recorder.
Vocals and loop based audio recording is miles ahead in the daws.. Especially when it comes to loop based take recordings...(if i'm playing live guitar on loop it creates takes which are in sync and i can pick the best ones and easily arrange them)
Having the midi tracks and clips next to the audio recorded clips in the daw gives a better overview of the song contents and it's really easier to make adjustments...

Not sure which way most people here think it should go in terms of tackling audio tracks or a direct like recording feature, but i'm pro multitimbral mode with better intergration into a daw than the audio tracks or direct recording in place .... And also a templete load function...

First off

Seeing how far away from ever getting this mode to start with we was I was happy with the move in this direction

that being said it is setup badly and having to load up the plugin or standalond to use it makes you not want to use it and doesnt make it very useful without a daw template & a standalone app to create your own like maschine and others who have this feature

If pete can impliment this to work like the mpd maschine and others it becomes very useful as currently its still handicapped by the way it works

if someone at akai has a maschine please play with how that mode works and make it work in the same way its nothing about copying maschine it judt makes sense and is the standard way if use

Mpd has a profile and the Ren should not lack in this department

That was my first intention when I received last year my REN...I have it explained many times on the Akai forum site...and on the second site...if they implement this you will have the best controller with an internal soundcard and you are free to use every other drum vst...

I have been wondering if having to load the application/plugin is due to it not being designed that way from the start, and therefore not having the capability within the hardware and firmware to allow such operation without the application/plugin running.

When they released the REN it was not designed for that...it was mentioned on the Akai site....but I think when we all would like to see that feature they would implement it....I sold my MPD and use my Maschine controller for triggering drum synths and sampler....and you wont believe it....it works.lol
