How similar is the ren compared to a hardware mpc ?

I've been on the mpc(2000XL) for over a decade so as you would guess I'm real comfortable on it. Right now though with my work schedule, kids and lady , I don't have a lot of time to make music so when I do get time, I wanna be as efficient as possible. Also I find the tracking out process to be the most tedious. Is working on the ren the same as working on any mpc just with a computer screen and the ability to bounce your whole songs to your daw ? Or is it not that simple or more to it ? Should the ren be a no brainer for a long time mpc user ? What about.........maschine ?

Also I forgot to mention I wanna be able to sequence sounds from komplete7 and record in pro tools 8. That's why I was considering maschine.

Download the demo software on akai's website. You should be able to load some of your 2000XL beats on it an see how it works. (yes you can load them in the demo).



If you don't have a beat on your PC/Mac you can still go through all the options of the software (mixer, plug-in etc....). The only limitation of the software is the audio timeout in about 10 minutes and you can't save.

To cut out the recording process was also for me one of the reasons I purchased the Studio. I have a MPC2500 and can import complete projects into the software.

With my workflow I don't miss any features or having any problems with the software. But other users with different workflows do stumble on missing or buggy features. For that it's a good idea to try out the demo.

It is possible to sequence Komplete in a midi track and record into DAW. I have a MAC and had to hook up the MPC software with -in my case- Reason through the MAC Audio Midi setup app and bus the audio outs of both software instruments through Soundflowerbed into DAW.
