Resample External FX

I just jumped ship from NI Maschine to MPC Renaissance and I couldn't be happier

Does anyone know the best way to resample external FX with the MPC Ren? I've got a few roland sp-series samplers that I'd like to use for FX, what is the easiest and quickest way to do this?

I cleaned up My laptop optimised All settings and still My ren crashes like crazy...after i loaded a few songs To listen, My cpu meter goed All out, and i get the dubious honor of the stopped communicating with computer message....in a hour it crashed 3 times...yeah I can make dope stuff with my ren, but there are too many limitations, workflow wise its awesome, if it t didn't crash so damn much...or is it cuz I use the 32 bit version for my Nexus vst to work....im gettin sick of it...but I'm too loyal to jump ship, and I do not forget how much fun I had with it....but its declining rapidly :'( I say update...

for every one "I jumped ship from the REN to the Maschine" magically will appear two posts from brand new users saying "I just jumped ship from Maschine to REN" lmaoo i really dont blame them, makes sense they are trying to save their product in any way possible

I ain't no Akai employee...

I can see the Ren has a few bugs here and there but its workflow is a million times better than Maschine. Don't get me wrong, there are things I miss about Maschine (sidechaining and sample tagging mostly) but at least I can compose and arrange songs in MPC Ren in a way that isn't completely ridiculous. Plus Maschine MIDI/DAW integration is a joke.

Anyway, can anyone answer my original question about resampling?

Run your audio you want to resample through your FX units inputs and have the outputs of your FX unit going into the MPC Ren's input. Thats the fastest way I can think of, is this what u meant? I dont know much about the Roland sp-series or if its possible to route audio through it like that. The Ren can resample too, dont forget.

Yeah, thats what I'm trying to do. I guess I'm asking how I go about routing the audio out from the Ren, should I send the audio out through the assignable mix outputs? Do I need to set up a sub mix every time I want to do this?

I think I need to send to send my audio out the main stereo outputs and the assignable mix outputs at the same time to make this work. Is this possible?

Just hook it up like inspectah said. This is the mpc recording itself. When you press pads your sound should flow threw your Roland and into mo with efx

but which outputs on the Ren do I connect to my Roland sampler?

I've got it working by sending the audio though outputs 3+4 when I want to resample, but its a hassle having to set the track output to 3+4 each time...

I would have main outputs routed that way.

but then what do I connect my speakers to? sorry if I'm missing something really obvious here..

Well you have a couple options. Use vst efx in the channel strip to emulate the dxs you want from your Roland. Plug and unplug your cables with the Roland or use the 3/4 out. You will have to use headphones when your main audio out is sending threw the Roland unless you have multiple outs on the Roland. Then just plug speakers in the Roland and leave that chain as it is. Since you prefers the external efx thing

I think I'll just stick with the output 3+4 option for now.

It would be handy if there was a third option to select "External FX" as the sample rec input, where the selected pad bank's audio is routed through outputs 3/4 during recording.
