It is available you know, not sure if this is a new version feature to when this post was added. Above your sample list you will see a bin, press it and it will delete any samples that aren't assigned to pads.

Yep I definitely know of it's existence now... I made the original post November 13th 2012. No purge back then. My first MPC and I was only about a month into it that the time
