Yo,

So I put this forward in another thread...but thought I'd throw it out there to some of the more knowledgeable Studio/Element heads out there...

I *hope* this is simple, but looking at the manuals and searching the forums and other sites I can't seem to find anything...

So:
I'm putting together some sequences by putting down my drum pattern.
Next, I'm copying that sequence (was initially just Copy/Paste...but now copying to the unused sequence slot) and putting a sample over the top. Perhaps a bassline, too. And I use this as the 'Master' sequence.
Then, I copy the 'Master' sequence (same method as before), and mute the kickdrum and the sample...maybe for a break or bridge or something (or to put another sample over).
BUT...when I then look at the sequences I copied FROM, they all have the same kickdrum and sample muted. Essentially, muting one pad of a sequence has carried across to all the other sequences.
So they're not acting independently of each other...they seem to be linked somehow.

Is there any way I can turn this OFF?

This seems so basic...but it's driving me a bit nuts. I'm reasonably new to the MPC world as well, so forgive me if this is 101 and I'm missing something obvious.

Really loving the help on this place, btw

CHEERS!

i guess the pad mute is remaining on the instrument even when you move to a new sequence? i'm not too sure how they use since i don't use pad mute all too much... maybe it's happening because you're applying the pad mute while the sequence is stopped, so it applies it across the board in the instrument settings as a default, rather than recording it specifically to your sequence? i don't know though... maybe if you try hitting overdub, then play start, and hit pad mute in the pre-roll metronome count it might be recorded as a note within the sequence, leaving the instrument defaulted to those pads unmuted in other sequences?

one way to get around this would be to isolate your drum parts to individual tracks, so you duplicate the pattern for however many drum parts you want to isolate, then delete all the double ups leaving your kicks, snares, hats etc. on different tracks, then track mutes should do the job you want to do, i've never had trouble with track mutes effecting other sequences when duplicating them, weird that pad mute behaves differently.

Try to post in the most relevant forum in the first place.

Someone has offered a solution in your original thread.
