Hello, I'm a beginner. I've looked for a while for an answer both here and in the manual for the MPC Studio but no luck so far, so am hoping someone here would be willing to offer some help.

I have created a set of samples and assigned them to the pads - so far, so good. Some of the samples are 4 or 5 seconds long. When I press a pad, the whole sample plays. Even if I only press the pad for (say) 1 second, the entire 5 second sample plays.

Is there a way to change it so that the sample only plays until I stop pressing the pad, so if I press half a second, it plays the 1st half second, and then if I press the same pad for 2 seconds, it plays for 2, etc.?

Much appreciated! -- Scott

Well, OK, but I'm not only old and fuzzy-brained, I'm also handicapped (I'm a guitarist). I only recently learned that I can get away with parking in the handicapped parking spots by just putting my guitar case in the front passenger seat.

I've been playing with the MPC Studio for about 2 days and have to say I'm completely blown away by it's capabilities and ease of use (that fact that I often have trouble finding specific things in the manual notwithstanding).

I've had a Roland MV8800 for a couple of years and while it's cool in some ways, the MPC is just light years ahead in capabilities and doing stuff fast. I think I'm gonna sell the MV............

Thanks again for your help, Scott
