Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Ok, I have given this Renaissance a fair go, and am not one for a whine on forums, but I have to pour out somewhere. Does anyone find that the midi clock and master/slave relationship is screwed with this thing????? Despite months of trouble shooting it is so random as to when it receives and/or sends midi clock, particularly to and from multiple hardware devices and and my Roland TR8. Akai, Roland and multiple forums have so far not been able to give me any solutions...!!! I can't be arsed to go into the multiple things I am trying to do, but simply want to find very simply if anyone finds that this machine is a pain in the backside when clocking to stuff?>? clocking to a DAW works but isn't stable enough and sending midi through my midi patch bay to multiple devices is painful and causes crashes.....its the clock issue that is the main one. MPC master > TR8 slave......no response from TR8. Do it the other way, works sometimes but not others.......
spend all my damn time troubleshooting and not actually making anything.....

back to the 2000xl i think. Again not one for a whine but I am sick of having no answers to any issues I am having...
Apologies

I also have problems here
between MPC Ren and Fantom x
The Mpc Ren does not recognize the Fantom so I can not use the fantom as a sound module
some experts in mid tried to help me and tried all possible settings
I stopped asking for help here because some are found superior to assist any novice
bought my mpc on ebay and I'm already thinking that possibly came with defect

I too have tried everything, but I also understand that everyone's set up and workflow is different so it is hard to troubleshoot sometimes. Mine isn't defective rather just the software continually lets it down.

Unfortunately the continual problems with utilising what is a very straightforward thing.......midi....continue to damage my confidence in the device and the ability to really enjoy it. For a device that should be able to use its midi capabilities to the max, it has so far been disappointing.
I have found some people on the forum useful, but that is the nature of forums, but i ahve never been afraid to ask the 'basic' questions despite my level of knowledge. if you don't ask ,then you don't find out. Some understand that the 'newbie' needs to be helped and others don't.

Don't let it put you off asking for help though

wish i could help my friend, but your quote said it all....

'spend all my damn time troubleshooting and not actually making anything.....'

for real!

'back to the 2000xl i think'

with you on that one too mate..

I did manage to get the MPC clocking fine from Traktor, but Traktor was clocking the MPC, I also mapped the pads to the Traktor sample deck, which was fine i suppose... But all that gave me was a controller that worked 2 things on a program it wasn't designed for. And that doesn't help you.

When I tried to use MPC with ableton it was awful, out of sync, and you can't assign controls like qlinks to functions in Ableton unless you go into the new midi mode, and then the MPC doesn't work as an MPC...

So, I'm feeling the same as you dude...

Since I got convinced to buy a Ren by some slick videos and big promises about assignable qlinks and workflow and...word of the decade GAME CHANGING!!!...
I've spent two years reading this forum and not doing anything musically, stuck the ren on ebay and got the 2000xl out...I've actually just bought a MPC2500 with JJ and that's taken me right back to making tunes again, amazing!

Sorry I'm of no use just sympathising with your woes... and fgetting my 2 pence worth of moaning out there!

The MPC ren clock is sloppy as **** even when used internally via IAC midi port

The device in the link up on top can generate a stable midi clock, just insert plugin on a track and it generates a audio time code through ren outputs, connect those to the box, then the box converts the audio Timecode into midi clock, it's super tight

Thanks both. Some good points in there. The innerclock unit is awesome for sure. Probably gonna invest in Roland's sync box as I have the aira range as well. I fact the TR8 sends tight midi clock to th Renaissance so that is a workaround but unfortunately not the other way.
