MPC Studio or Element as portable backup

I wanted to get some feedback here on a question. I recently purchased a Ren and wanted to get something else as a portable option while leaving the Ren in my studio. I'm sure there are some here who have gotten either the Studio or Element for that purpose. What are your thoughts about either one in terms of pro or cons?
The Element seems like an inexpensive option as I can still use the MPC software with it. I don't mind using the mouse while on the go if I have to. I just want a way to still be able to work on things when I'm gone and then transfer it once I get back. The cost is not a problem but I just want to make sure the Studio is not overkill as it's not my primary unit.

If you don't care about cost, the studio would be it.

Have not used the Element, but for the difference in price, I would go with a Studio, the Element seems too limited, the Studio would be much more like working on your Renaissance.

I would also wait for a good condition second hand unit, at a low price.

Also the Element's pads are not like the Studio's and Rens.

As a simple controller I went with Element for my portable set-up.

The only downside is that obviously there are some things you cannot do on the Element that you can on the Ren, i.e. copying sequences etc. Personally, though I think that is a problem with the software not the hardware itself.

Much thanks for the feedback. I got the Element and kept it for a day as I quickly realized it wouldn't suit my workflow with the limited controller features. The good thing was that the mpc software worked with it problem free but I ended up ordering a Studio after having some time to put one through its paces.

yup. The Studio is the one, as the workflows will be exactly the same as the Ren.

Seems like you made the correct choice
