Sup' mp forum? Just copped the Renaissance went thru hell with the 1.8 it crashed everytime I went to preferences..gave up and installed 1.7.1 and it performed cool for a sec then it started crashing when I tried to scan for vst's.. Now I'm running 1.6.. And so far everything is good.... I'm running windows 7 ultimate..

It's 1.5 or 1.6 that was the most stable especially when considering the plug in scanner which hasn't functioned well since Akai changed it and often doesn't recognize plug ins whatsoever. Waves really seems to give it trouble :/

I would love that plug in stability back as well as the 1.8 bugs cleared (edit-preferences in particular) as the functionality of the Ren is top notch now and forging a quite unique path in the sampler kingdom.

Yeah I must admit the 1.6 has been doing great... And I have been really enjoying my ren... Just wish I was able to have the latest version of the software to get it in with some of the new features implemented.. But im'a pretty patient cat.. So I will just chill and let akai do what they do and kill it with the 1.9

I've never really had a problem with the mpc software crashing on me. I build and maintain my own computers though. Working with Windows 7 Ultimate and an intel processor. My only problem with 1.8 is I can't get anything to automate outside of track mutes/solos. Trying to figure out if that's something they just deleted from previous versions or it's something with my setup....

1.6 was by far the most stable to date..BUT I must admit, 1.8 is pretty amazing. 1.8 with 1.6 stability (ESPECIALLY THE 1.6 PLUG IN SCANNER!!!!!) and you have an unstoppable board.. kinda sounds a little too good to be true lol. Akai's stepping it up though. We just need that stability

V1.81 in 64bit mode has been stable for me.

I stopped using VSTis and have simplified my approach to using the REN as a step sequencer. VSTis like Omnisphere were aggravating stability so I have limited my system to sampling.

I previously had good results using external midi to a Roland V-Synth. I am also using the REN as a midi clock master.
