Tick line counter

I'm a new user to the MPC studio,i've watched a few tutorial videos on getting familiar with the machine.In the videos i see when they set to record the tick line that runs across the screen only moves when they hit a pad.how do you set it like that? mine just runs whether i'm hitting a pad or not.

The MPC has a count in feature set on the hardware on the Main screen when you click the F2 button. When using the MPC in a DAW the MPC count in will not work. I'm unsure if any MPC had that, but I know it was a great feature with MV8000.
