MPC Renaissance Song Mode is it me or...

does the song sequence mode in the AKAI software lack a bit? Maybe I'm asking for too much because I'm coming from DAWs like Logic and FL Studio. Don't get me wrong the Ren is a hell of an animal but I just feel restricted when it comes down to some of the features in the song sequence mode. Ehhh...thoughts?

What are you missing?

I guess the ease of automation really. The DAWs have really spoiled me in the sense that all I had to do was click and drag. It's a bit more tedious with the Ren. Dropouts and so on.....I still love the machine though. Still waiting on this 1.8 update

Coming from a daw, it's definitely different. Inferior, possibly. To me it is, for the reasons you mentioned. But the MPC song mode is capable. Agree it needs to be improved, but I don't think many people feel it is limited, let alone want to use it like you would arrange in a daw.

song mode in the MPC series. is always been a organizer of sequences. its not to be compared to the track screen in your usual daw.

All your efx, mixing and magic needs to be done in the sequences.

song mode is strictly to organize what you have created in the sequences.

so it can be rendered/bounced for a mix/master.

I understand it's how Akai intends it to behave right now ( copy & paste) but in my head, when I'm in the zone, I want it become another creative tool to actually lay down the structure of a song (not copy & paste).

I would just love a dedicated mode where we hit a playable pad that sums up all the elements of a sequence and have that pad quantizable on the grid. Kinda a way to find (loop, isolate) that knocking lil section in a composed 2, 4, or 8 part bar that you know could make a song.

Does this already exist? To-moment, I'm thinking of ways to achieve this, got a few theories of how to do it in the normal sequencer, just got to try them out.
