Hey what's up new to Mpc element and having trouble setting up my mpc element to record sequences in fl studio's piano roll as opposed to MPC essentials software which i'm using as a plugin(I think) in FL Studio12. Is there even possible? If not how would I create a song and then open, and edit it in fl studio? Help! I dont know if my midi options are off, however the mpc essentials works fine in fl studio but only records in essentials and not in fl studio.

Yeah, for some reason Akai has made this extremely difficult and still refuse to address it. It's discussed (very confusingly, as not everyone seems to understand the issue) in this tread:

Here's my post from that thread that explains a work around:

phx_chronic wrote:When you want to record go to the MIDI control mode and then, in the browser, find the folder called 'Midi Control Scenes' (it's located in the Factory Content folder where the Elements of House and all that shit are) and select the one called "Classic MPC.mcn". Now when you hit the pads it will record the midi from the MPC (when the DAW is recording, obviously). From here you can toggle back to other modes of the MPC to assign pads/trim samples/etc. and just hit the MIDI Control Mode button when you want to record something into your DAW piano roll.

It's a pain in the ass, but pretty easy when you get used to it... Hope that helps.
