No problem loading the APS, PGM, and ALL files. However, when I load up a song from my old disks I have to manually change the pgm on each track to my program... WTF?!? How can I set the program as a master for all tracks and sequences (I do remember having to change each track on the 2000xl, but I've already done that.) What am I missing here? THANKS!

i´m sorry to say you miss nothing ..

here a quick quote + sourcelink ...

The MPC2000/XL do not have a ‘project’ type of file, like the XPJ/PRJ/AKM, so instead you have to load up an APS (all programs) and an ALL (all sequences and songs). Unfortunately, double clicking the APS file from my MPC2000XL project loads only the sounds, not the individual program files. The workaround is to instead load up all your individual program files – which isn’t the end of the world if you still have your MPC2000XL, as you can just load up the APS in your XL and re-save each individual PGM file. However, if you sold your MPC2000XL, you’re out of luck, so you’ll ever have to borrow an XL or wait for Akai to fix this.

The APS might work these days, I wrote that article for version MPC Software 1.2. However, in that article I noted that sequences lost their PGM assignments, which is what seems to be happening here.

Tomorrow I'll try out some of my APS/ALL files to see what's happening. But basically whatever happens is probably just the way it is until (or if) Akai ever fix it. Obviously the better the support for loading older projects, the more people will buy the Ren/Studio, so it's definitely worth them ensuring proper legacy support.

Seems to make no difference Whether it's an APS or PGM file.. Either way I have to manually change the pgm on each track from (none) to the correct program(s). Not the hugest setback in the world, but now I'm noticing that the programs are incomplete!? Missing samples here and there where the pad/program slot is correctly labelled, but the ? icon appears before the sample name. Any problems with this, anyone? The first issue is manageable, as it only has to be changed once and saved to HD as a project file, but MISSING SAMPLES?! Ruh-roh!! That won't do. A lot of my samples I don't even know the original artist/track because I was sampling heavily from the radio during my 2KXL phase. PLEASE HELP!!!

Just had quick check, APS and ALL now load, but as before, all sequencer tracks are unassigned. No missing samples for me though.

If the pad is showing the file name with a '?' at the front, check the project folder for the missing samples and load them manually, or if they've somehow been renamed, change the name back.
