Octatrack + Renaissance. Anyone using this combo?

What up fam. Copped an octatrack very recently, and for how little I've scraped the surface, I'm blown away by the capabilities of this beast.

Anyways, just wondering about how cats are using their OT w/the MPC software (pre/post MP, thru machines, etc??) Currently just focused on learning but I feel like I want to sample to and from either device, or maybe focus on building tracks in the MP and then freaking them with the OT.

Maybe not even so concerned about Ren integration rather than general MPC workflow, etc.

Any and all info is welcomed, as these Elektron machines are a completely different beast from an MP....

I own both, but so far have only midi clocked them. the octatrack is a very steep learning curve I have found and more often than not i have neglected the octatrack as i am more comfortable with the Ren/Akai workflow.......but must spend time with the octatrack as so far what i have learnt is mindblowing

If it was me I'd sell the Ren and get the dark trinity. Once you figure out elektron boxes there amazing. I'm trying to get away for my laptop.

Nah mate, always been Akai for me always will be. I don't stare at a laptop. All done in the box. I have experimented with clocking to a DAW but generally don't use computer

Thanks for the responses guys. I specifically purchased the OT to use in conjunction with the MP, so it isn't going anywhere. Lol.

Anyways, the learning curve is pretty steep. But even scratching the surface opens up major possibilities. Took me a while to even get sound to pass through the beast, haha. Once I got a sample in and started playing around things got hectic pretty quickly and I was easily applying effects and manipulating samples. I have yet to delve too deep into sequencing, but that is next on the schedule. I hope to get quick with OT workflow and start passing samples back and forth between the 2 devices while sync' dip over midi. One thing that would be nice (and I haven't attempted yet) would be to trigger samples with pads and play them out a little bit. Not sure how triggering from external midi into the OT functions yet, I'm still super fresh to the instrument (work eats up most days, obviously!)

I bought a renaissance two years ago, my first hardware. Honeymoon...

Then I bought an analog four to make my own analog synth sounds, one year ago.

As result, I just have reselled my MPC and bought a machinedrum. Heresy !

I sometimes (often) miss the mpc sequencer, the pads, the attitude, etc, but as I learn deeper and deeper the elektron philosophy (or elektron dogma) , I manage to forget akaï and its great software development.

Now I turn on my machines, and just have fun. No more arrangement, no more sampling, no more software, no more beatmaking... No more music , just f.....g heavy binary sound and live experiments.

C'mon, beat me !

Getting into the OT a little deeper. Man this thing can be a killer with the quick workflow. Trying really hard not to smash buttons out like pads, lol.

Any ren/OT interfacing experiments for me to try out?

I'm stuck in a hotel room with nothing but the OT and my iTunes library to sample from for the next few days. Using it as a learning opportunity!
