Save History?

Hello guys, I have the habit of being a perfectionist and tend to keep tinkering with stuff when it doesn't need tinkering. I was working on a project all day saving as I went along but now by the end of the night, the beat sounded better earlier in the day. My mistake was not to make different save folders as I kept overwriting instead of all together just making new saves with different names (into the light 1, into the light 2, etc.).
Does the mpc software have a save history or list in which you can recall previous saves from? Thanks in advance

'EDIT > History' (SHIFT+CMD+H) gives a list of recent edits so you can move back to a previous point, but not sure if that's something that can be used only in an existing session or whether you can recall it at a later date.

I'm at work so not able to mess with stuff at the moment.

How about turning my computers clock back to earlier in the day would that work?

How would changing the computer clock do anything of any use?

Try the history option as described, that's the only option within the MPC Software - the only other way is if you use an incremental backup system on your computer, like Time Machine or dropbox, in which case you can access older versions easily.

Great thanks for the input Mpc Tutor. I was hoping that maybe reverting the computer back to that time and state would also have an effect on what was on the mPc software much like when you install a new os on your computer etc. Ill try Time machine but I've never set that up so maybe my best bet is the edit history. On my way home now I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok so it seems history information doesn't save with your projects and since I closed that session there's no way to get that back so that's a no go, I also tried restoring mpc software to a previous time and date using Time Machine but that also didn't work. So lesson well learned, make multiple saves of a single project if you don't want to lose your mind later lol thanks

its a brutal lesson to learn, but unfortunately its the only way people normally do....

nowadays there is no excuse not to regularly save your work....you've got plenty of disk space and it doesn't take a minute.........I do my own nut in by how often I save versions of my stuff, but its better than the alternative...

I even save my tunes to USB sticks and stash them on other computers in case I bet burgled or whatever....

when you've made some music you are the only person in the world who owns it......its worth remembering how fragile that is....

Apart from Time Machine and a daily clone, I've found using a sub folder of my Dropbox folder invaluable as that's the only backup option that backs up the moment you make any changes - you can also go back in time easily, I think it's 5 copies saved in the free version, unlimited in the pro version. So any 'current' project is located in Dropbox until it's finished, then it gets moved to a different location.
