Hi guys,

I have a MPC Renaissance and a Roland TR8,

I am able to send Sync clock to the TR8 from the renaissance, as well and midi notes and cc values,

I am also able to *sometimes* send TR8 midi cc's back to the renaissance and record it...

However, I am not sure of the proper settings to use to have this midi "handshake", (i have a cable out the mpc into the TR8 and out the tr8 into the Mpc), because my sounds will sometimes play double on the mpc, like when I play a kick drum, it will go BABOUM, instead of BOOM, ... you get the concept... i think...

I am having a tough time to find proper info on how to set up this type of midi connection with the renaissance, there are some for other mpcs but even then, it's always different machines and whatever whatever,

Can someone give me a hand and explain the proper setup procedure to have this midi handshake going??

Once again, I want to sync my tr8 to my Mpc, and have any knob changes i perform on the tr8 record inside the MPC.

Thank you in advance.

Your sounds are double triggering, omni is the ability to use all the midi channels. You can try it, I doubt that's your problem though.

Omni Mode

In MIDI keyboards this refers to a mode where an instrument will respond to MIDI coming in on any MIDI channel. The term is actually somewhat vague to properly represent a true mode of MIDI operation (see WFTD: MIDI Mode), but was used mostly in the early days of MIDI where the simple concept that an instrument would respond (or not) to data on any channel was important. Today when this term is used it is generally implied that MIDI Mode #1 is being discussed.

Alright thank you for your help guys,

I think the double retriggering of my sounds has something todo with Soft Thru on Mpc Renaissance,

Any Idea how to set this to OFF,

Could you please screenshot or something like that,

Can't seem to find anything on the web or in the actual program,

Thank you!
