Should I upgrade to an MPC Studio?

Whaddup.

I've currently produced solely on an MPK 49 and Ableton for a good 2 years now. Upgrading my MPK 49 to fat pads has made a tremendous difference in the past, but I've never actually used an MPC and have come across a pretty good deal for them.

Is it worth the $200+ upgraded work flow of an MPC studio, given that Ableton already provides a sampler/drum rack and I have my own VSTs and samples on a speedy 16GB ram/i5/SSD PC? I'm curious as to how much better the studio pads could be in comparison to fat pads as well. Of course, it's hard for me to factor in the non-visual/portability benefits that MPCs provide compared to an MPK.

if u chop samples and are big on drums and sequencing, I'm not sure there's a better sequencer available then an mpc, which mpc is a personal choice though, good luck!

I wouldn't upgrade to an MPC Studio just for the fat pads, you already have fat pads on your MPK. As for workflow 'upgrade', that would be debatable depending on how you prefer to currently work and how you wish to work in the future. I don't think you can really know if it will improve your workflow until you actually try an MPC Studio in the flesh.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to be opting in for an Ableton Push as it is the most complete controller for that specific DAW. Hopefully with my MPK 49 and the sequencing abilities of the Push, the MPC Studio won't even be viable.
