A patch script, or patch list, is the bridge that integrates your external MIDI keyboards and sound modules with your sequencing software. Without this list, there is no way for the software to know which sounds reside in your gear. A patch script is a listing of all the sounds with their MIDI addresses programmed in the format that the software requires.

With legacy MPCs, when you assign a MIDI sound module or keyboard to a track, there is no way for the MPC to identify what sounds are in these sound modules. MPCs just treats all external sounds as Programs 1-127, without the names of the patches.

It would be awesome if the MPC Ren can support Patch Scripts like Cubase. So when a Patch Script is loaded for a sound module, like the Fantom XR, and you choose a MIDI Track, that tracks' Program field will list the names of all the patches found in the Fantom XR. This will allow you to select pacthes by their names instead of program numbers.

nice idea!

there sould also be somthing like Midi SysEX info saved in the REN. so u can pull up all the sounds from your midi gear driectly when loading projects in the REN.

i second this....the 4 midi outputs on the renaissance are there for a reason

Can u do this that somehow u can store the patch settings from the midi out hardware, like SysEX commands or something simmilar, so its saved with the REN project? Kinda lika a "totall recall for midi outs" feature.

I think at least 1 of every 100 of my feature requests are decent. :D

I think this is something that can take the MPC to another level. The MPC Ren is projected to map VST instruments to its Qlinks. Imagine if external MIDI instruments had the same level of integration beyond just patch names. Pull up your favorite sound module or keyboad on a MIDI track and go into program edit and have their patch parameters mapped to Qlinks....correctly labeled.

Yo u don't knw how may times I used to say, "I wish the MPC could remember what sounds I was using from the keyboard, so I don't have go to each track and find each sound again". It even got to the point for me that, whatever midi track was a keyboard track, I named it that keyboard sound, made it a lil easier for me.

I use to do the same thing. I named the track with the name and location (Bank/Preset #).

And while newer synths have VST editors.....all the ones I am using are terrible. Korg just released the Kronos VST editor which is probably the worst editor I have ever used. Roland's Fantom G editor takes forever to sync.

So anything done onboard the MPC Ren to enhance use of external MIDI gear would be a huge bonus. Although I plan on using VSTs...I will always maintain hardware in my studio.

I prefer hardware over software, but hardware cost way more. But you can't knock those synth keyboards (fantoms, motifs, korgs) because they sound great.

I like the Nord Studio line, but damn, $4000+?! No thanks!

Hands down, this may be one of the best Ren request ever.
