Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

i really want to buy one and have no doubt that eventually will deliver more than any previous mpcs.

my fear is though that it will take many months(even a year) to make a rock solid software without any minor bugs and when that happens soon after a new mpc ren is gonna be released and i will have left behind with my old mpc ren, which is not gonna have any good aftersale value (like old mpcs that were str8 standalone hardwares) and many hours of frustrations due to crashes and old these bugs that this software is facing right now and will face in the months to come.

any thoughts or that??? i am not sure any akai employ can really answer this so not waiting for any official responce.

p.s. sorry for my bad english, i am from greece.

software taking a while being brought up to modern specs and functionality is going to take a while judging by the update results pushed out so far. Seem like every update released fixes or improves couple things but breaks 5 x more.

you're not loosing anything by waiting it out, matter of fact the opposite, you gain from it.

1. year down the road ren software should be fairly solid

2. Most likely ren will see a price reduction by then

Have no fear.

Dont buy the product if it cannot meet your current needs. All this stuff has been discussed so many times here, quite frankly threads like this pop up almost every day. Do you have a specific question that you couldn't find the answer to?

Looks like you really can't afford to drop a some dimes on this equipment therefore wait it out. Anyone who is already doing it would just buy one and learn the system and find ways to work around all the problems it has until an update and in the meanwhile use other production equipment to continue work.

I don't know why people go out on a limb to buy some of these machines and complain when it doesn't just create a song for them when they turn it on and hit the magic "Create a Song" button. SMH.

first of all this isn't a troll post or anything.i just wanted to share my thoughts with you people.sorry if i am reapeting other peoples post.

second in the past i have owned a mpc 2500 and an mpc 4000.gave serious cash but took back good money when i sold them. i fear this is not gonna happen with ren if a ren 2 pops up.

third i never refer to other hardwares from other companies cause my vote always go to akai.i have been an mpc fan for years and that is not gonna change.i am always like mpc hardware or no hardware at all.

having mentioned these 3 things above i want to clear something more.
the reason i made this post is because i really can't wait to get a new fully working mpc, not one which crashes, not one that undo button doesn't work properly etc.
i never asked for a suggestion of another hardware, welcome those who did though, i just wanted to make sure if anyone knows anything more about the update software that will come for ren, how soon they will come from anyones experience with other hardwares, and anybody knows anything about akai ren 2 anytime in the next year or something.

i am an mpc fanatic, damn economical crisis has me thinking even how to smoke less cigarettes in order to save some cash, so i just wanted to make sure what will be the next best move for me.i defenatly eventually gonna buy a new mpc.

to admins: if you think this topic should be locked pls lock it, i don't want to make another unsefull topic, i just thought that might fears-thinking might reflect to others as well.many thanks to everyone who took time to reply.

peace

No, but would love one of them. Everything it does, is practically in real-time, how about chopping up a record while listening to the same record in real time? Yeah, it does that. Its incredible little device.

Nobody can see into the future, I don't know what else to tell you.

There willl always be something new at some point, otherwise businesses like Akai will run out of customers. You buy a car, then a new version comes out a few years later, and then a few years later again and so on. Google "Product lifecycle" for a better idea of how it works. In simple terms a product will go through four distinct phases - known as the product lifecycle.

The Ren/Studio is at stage one of this cycle, early adopters provide proof that the marketing strategy has been succesful and that there is some degree of confidence in the product. Others will wait until stage three when the product has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that it is fit for purpose. In terms of the Ren/Studio, we are really talking about the software; hardware issues may come to light with the passage of time.

1. Introduction (MPC Renaissance/Studio)
2. Growth (DSI Tempest)
3. Maturity (Maschine/MPC1000*/MPC2500*/MPC5000*)
4. Decline (Roland MV8800/ MPC4000)

*Rumours are ciculating that these products are discontinued which would place them at stage four.

Your rationale is flawed, because if and when there is a Ren 2, you could still be saying the same thing, wondering if theres a better version coming. Brand loyalty is a nonsense in a competitive marketplace. If you choose to limit yourself in this way, you are limiting your own creativity and productivity for the sake of what?

You can only buy what is available. If you want it buy it, if you have serious reservations, don't buy it and consider alternative options. This isn't rocket science.

Just don't buy it and become yet another person crying like a baby because it wont do this and it dont do that. There is no obligation to buy into all this and nobody is holding a gun to your head. Be intelligent enough to take any marketing claims with a pinch of salt, believe something when you see it with your own eyes or are reliably informed any such claims are justified.

they are not gonna make another ren anytime soon why the hell would they. its the software that is running the show now.it will take a least a year before i can say without hesitation buy it i reckon.
it;s a work in progress if you can't deal with that then you'll just have to wait.
and before you even think about getting ren make sure you computer is up to par.

clint i still don't get your attitude in this post but anyway.you are making a serious mistake here, if i buy ren and go through one-two years till software is really tight with all the frustrations this includes, and then comes a ren 2, it won't be build from the scratch as the ren is, it will be build in this software and around this tech.so it will be at least stable and have no minor bugs from hello.i wish i could afford to buy ren now and be sure that in a couple of years i will be able to get mpc ren 2 if it comes out by no matter how much i will get for selling mpc ren but thats not the case for me.

i apreciate your answer though, pls try not just to answer but to understand the persons you choose to reply, they will get more out of your response for sure.
statements such as "This isn't rocket science" or "don't buy it and become yet another person crying like a baby" and shit are not nice for a moderator and you have the knowledge and power to be better than that.

I suggest you wait it out and not deal with the headache.
Yes, the product is USEABLE but it still isnt where it needs to be.
And judging by the way its going, the updates coming at us at about 1 1/2 months.

I give it a good year before this thing is sturdy and at the point is shouldve been during release. And I give it another 8 months after that where people will stop comparing it to the maschine.

You buy this now youre gonna be able to make beats, but with headaches, if you can achieve your desired sound with another product, do that in the mean time and when its ready, sell it and get this...

But in total wrap up... just wait it out, trust me.

best answer till now, thank you very much sir., i think i am gonna wait at least till the machine is stable and a few more updates come up.

kind of surprises me that nobody here said go for it, it works fine, people complaining are not right or they trying to do so much with it or they etc.
i apreciate people being honest.

politeness is optional for human beings but for human beings who are moderators in a forum is a must. off course i want everybodys oppinion as long as it is given without sarcasm and without snobbing others.

your oppinion is heavily taken into account, the way expressed it had me disagreeing.
