Good virtual instrument for pad/soft/lead synths?

Good virtual instrument for pad/soft/lead synths?

I have massive, all the ikmultimedia plugins, basstation, k0ntakt, and a couple more but what else is good?

I'm coming from the fantom and I need something with those beefy synth sounds without all the programming, need ease of layering and adding fx, easy patch/sound browsing, etc...

Massive and Sonik Synth 2 probably have the closest to what Im looking for but Massive is a little complicated for my taste bc I'm not one to go crazy programming my own synths, also sonik synth has some good sounds but I have to dig through a massive list of boring sounds and the gui is so small and unfriendly to the mouse.

+1 If you're a preset guy Nexus is a good choice with lots of good presets and the editing doesn't go very deep at all. The other two have good presets (especially omnisphere) but allow you to go deep if you want to.

Sylenth 1 is another good choice for nice presets but it's range is more that of a classic synthesizer, with a very good modern sound. (if thats the sound you're going for)

I personally love Waldorf synths but that is another beast with a completely unique sound.

You may also want to consider a hardware synth. You'd need a bit higher budget for that though.

I'd say it's a great time to get a hold to Cakewalk's flagship instruments Dimension Pro and Rapture... Originally $199 each and Right now only 19.99 here

Wish they would put their real monster, Z3ta 2, on for that price :)

True, but it's a hell of a VST for $99. Upgrade fee was $49 from Z3ta+

massive is absolutly what you lookibg for...look for some tutorials groove3 got some great tutorial for sound design and also for massive...

zta3 1 is still a greate synth i had it as an add on in a magazine

I know this isn't what you were looking for but do you have a hardware synth? If not you should really think about getting one. There are quite a few good ones in the $1000 and under range. You usually get some very quality sounds and the fun factor of music making increases exponentially. Plus you really get to know it well and you do a lot more sampling which leads to other great sounds and ideas you may not do with a software synth. The more of them I get the more fun music making seems to become. I probably already do 90% of my synth sounds on hardware now and I love it personally.

LOVE Alchemy on the ipad. I know that's not what you guys want but I read it just now and had to say something. It's easy enough without going to deep.
