Hey all, problem. Just got a REN and syncing it midi port 1 out to 2000xl and vice versa. All sync settings correct, tried new midi leads. Powered on and off. No midi sync between two machines!! Wtf? Anyone had this experience or can offer tips? Pulling my hair out
Peace thanks

Right now the MPC-R can only be MIDI "Master" it doesn't receive MIDI clock (that will change when 1.4 comes out)

So you want to connect your MIDI out 1 to the MIDI in on your MPC2000 with a standard 5 pin MIDI cable.

In the MPC software preferences "sync" window you have to choose MIDI Clock in the Send drop down Menu.

Then just below that select the MIDI port you want to send MIDI clock to and check the box next to it. Here you can also experiment with the MTC frame rate (if you choose to send MTC instead of MIDI clock).

I don't know what the MPC2000 can receive but if it can receive MTC use that instead because it will transfer playback position along with BPM.

You can also choose to send MMC here (if the MPC2000 accepts it) which will make your transport controls on the MPC-R control the transport controls on the MPC2000 as well.

If you have problems with MTC (if it even accepts it) try MIDI clock instead which will at least get your timing right.

Thanks for that. I got nothing? There are no check boxes, only on the midi inputs? I select the mpc from the drop down from midi port a in REN midi settings and have tried midi clock and MTC on the 2000xl and I still got nothing???

Sounds like you're looking in the wrong menu.

This is what it should look like

This is the "Sync Menu"

No, I swear. That's the screen I was in. The check boxes are not there. I will post screen shot when I get home from work. Not trolling my friend, I absolutely swear that the check boxes do not exist in my menu screen, same as you have just posted. I know, I have spent hours attempting to connect. Not a newcomer to all this

Thats really strange :hmmm:

Do you have the MIDI out ports selected as the Renaissance hardware midi output ports like this?

You may just want to try and reinstall the software. I sync the Ren with my MC-909 and it works great. I have never seen the check boxes missing.

Can you choose Rennaissance ports A & B instead of MPC2000XL? Those are the only ports that allow MIDI Clock To be selected as far as I know

I'm pretty sure (not possitive) that the Renaissance can only send MIDI clock out of it's own physical MIDI ports 1&2 so you have to have the MPC hooked up to either ports 1 or 2 out on the Renaissance and then choose the Renaissance ports in the "to" section on Sync page you posted above. Only then will it work as far as I know.

Also if you're receiving MIDI Clock on another device fine, maybe try using the MIDI through to get the clock to the MPC2000XL.

I'm fairly certain the check boxes wont show up unless you choose the ports that the Ren is capable of sending on (aka MIDI out 1 & 2)

Strange, it is coming out of port 1 and I have tried all the others. The reason it says 'mpc2000xl' is because often routing into the midi interface and in mac midi settings. I have tried after a complete reinstall, so it reads as factory settings 'mpc renaissance port 1' and the check box still doesn't show up. With nothing connected to it still has no check box. I.e. if I access the sync menu with nothing connected just the default port settings. Guy from akai e mailed me so hopefully I will get some answers. Cheers
