Been trying to use the plugin lately and it seems abit hard to use with a standard controller feature

someone I was talking with on skype was just controlling plugins at will without having to use a spare track all the time and setting things up

Im just wondering will this feature be present in future because I feel like Ive got a big amazing controller that doesnt really control anything

In 2013 you would of thought the most expensive and potentially best controller sampler and software to date would have a simple controller feature that you setup once like maschine has

for me its the only thing lacking from the mpc ren but something greatly needed for live performing and doing things on the fly

please make this happen AKAI im sure you would even more Ren sales and maschine converts

What would you like to see exactly? Specifically....how would you like it to be implemented? Inquiring minds would like to know......

A full on controller surface mode that you can select in say ableton as you can the mpd and others which would allow us to just control what we want as and when

Also pgm to midi like the maschine has would be great as you still have a sequencer in a sequencer and the other day I wanted to record my pgm to abletons track and not the mpc but couldn't perform this using the mpc pads I found I could using a keyboard going thru it and could draw them in piano roll but could not just perform on my pads and have it record straight to ableton

I also tried just tricking it to thinking it was an mpd lol that did not work

A full controller mode would allow you to be ableton to use the mpc bank buttons as the midi octave kind of like they do in standalone mode or assign things much more easily

again the Ren is potentially the best seq/sampler/controller/software on the market hands down

put the controller mode in and pgm to midi and you can take potentially right out of that sentence!

I'm sure Ren users would be over the moon with this one

Pgm to midi notes here is the best example I could find

Controller mode I Think we would just like to be able to have it as a profile in our daw of choice then we could control or trigger how we like to individually

the main drag is you need an mpc track up just to do this when the mpd can do it as standard

some examples

the way you can toggle using the hardware makes it the feature you can flip in or out of as you like

This topic has gotten prior threads and they all came down to what AyePee is saying. In one thread I explained how Akai's stance that a third party can just sell/invent a controller mode will still require a bit of help on Akai's end the way the Ren/USB/MIDI/Lack of of a way to script a controller mode is ATM.

A controller mode would be fantastic for all the reasons the Maschine one is. Really more so on a Ren as it's a better control surface, and more solid. Plus the fact people don't want to need a dinner table sized workspace by needing to have an MPD or use their Maschine if they have in Controller mode alongside their Ren.

It would be optimum to just be able to toggle between Ren mode and controller mode, and if there's a map making app separate where you've made your loadable maps prior to be at the ready for the toggle switches, it would be very smooth.

It would just be great for Ren owners to not have to leave the Ren surface and still be able to hopscotch all around their DAW+VST+Ren session with the great Ren surface.

Like I said dig out the older threads, in those I spelled out the technical reasons why Akai would have to help here (in a third party solution scenario) or just better yet program a controller mode/editor app on their own as dev time will allow.

I get that Akai might want to work on the software for a while still as the number one focus and this could be a later thing. But the current stance/statement they have made says they have zero intention of ever doing it. And that is simply baffling to me.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Bring this to the Ren please akai its a much better control surface

Maschine can so why not the REN?

Come on pete!!!

That's my take on it too. Your competitor has it, their users LOVE the feature, your user base has made it known they'd really be appreciative to have a similar functionality...

So even just on the strength of not giving the competition something to showcase that you don't offer they should do it.

Again it's a fantastic control surface, and would make an amazing user definable MIDI surface for use outside the Ren software. And I should really say alongside the Ren software as again this is going to theoretically be in a DAW hosted situation and some of your stuff for various reasons may not be hosted in the Ren.

As well as the fact you could toggle out of Ren mode and have a template to control your DAW too.

If they are worried they won't sell MPD's (I use one at times to toggle from DAW control to plugins) if they do this, that's just silly. It's two market tiers price wise, and 99/100 Ren owners are not going to buy an MPD no matter what happens on the Ren's possibilities as a user defined MIDI controller.

The MPD's sell to an audience that are not likely to be spending $1000+ and just need a surface for Battery, Geist, BPM and so on.

nicely put

I really hope akai add these features because it will just boost work flow & flexibility
If extra input is needed im sure all the ren users would chip in right?

I believe maschine did not have these features from the jump and was probably trying to get the software stable which I think 1.4 akai manged to do obviously nothing can be perfect but its defiantly running much better and smother

Time for the icing on the cake :)

Maschine has the features but Its the Ren what can really take advantage of them

So after you record MIDI notes into Logic....is Logic then triggering the kit in Maschine?

yes Jah the Ren does this part now you can draw your midi in the piano roll or jam it from a keyboard but if you jam from your pads it records into the mpc plugin track which makes it a sequencer inside a sequencer pads to midi is like a toggle for going between the normal mode where you may want to use internal sequencer or external where you want to record into your daw

Along with Controller Mode ...wow

Great idea.

Well....they have been known to add multiple user feature requests with each update....

I dont understand what is the problem to make a software switch to change to midi mode.
when you using logic x and you start the mpc plug in you can see the notes from the pads, but you cannot record.
when you using the battery 3 or 4 plug-in and punch the pads you can record the notes.

this is only a change in the programm.
and with logic x track stack it would be the bomb!!

one plug in to 16 aux routing with plugin mixing on my metric halo uln-8 and lio-8!!
and then to my dangerous 2-Bus analog summing.....perfect sound... :-D

I agree ...why make a midi controller, a very nice one, with tons of controls, call it a controller, then it can't be used as a midi control surface for any daw besides the actual mpc software? I want to control the mixer in any daw with the qlinks, use transport, and assign other functions to the buttons. The Ren is basically a control surface that can't control anything. Yet it has midi, transport buttons, tons of knobs etc... Also would like to use the software without being attached to the mpc.

The MPC Ren/Studio are controllers dedicated to controlling the MPC Software and not generic controllers like an MPD. However, within the MPC Software, the Ren/Studio's Pads, Qlinks, and transport buttons can be mapped to DAWs, plugin instruments/effects, as well as MIDI sound modules. S0 it isn't accurate to say 'it is a controller that doesn't control anything'.

So basically you guys want Akai to take away time from advancing the MPC Software (numerous feature requests that are equally or more important) to do what other software companies failed to do....which is to produce a dedicated controller for their own software?

While waiting/hoping for specific feature requests to be implemented.....have any of you actually tried to use the Ren/Studio as a controller as currently designed?

Just stop your war against a basic thing that would be easy to implement and that the competitor offers.

It's well documented on why a separate mode is more versatile, more convenient and avoids problems that arise trying to do mappings as it stands now.

Or just put it to a poll and lose 50:1 yet again.

If a company is about it's business it shouldn't take away from any other development, unless their operation really is that rinky dink at this point.

You still seem to the only one against it. Now tell me that you're not against it even though your showing out for corporate apologist stance shows that you are against it...
