MPC output Sounds distorted

Since one about one week when working on my tracks after a couple of minutes the sound out of nowhere get's distorted. I tried everything from rebooting. Putting the software and controller on another computer. You can stop he distortion for a couple of minutes by changing the samlerate in the preferences - but after a couple of minutes the distortion comes again. I am really upset as I think that it must somehow come from the controller. Anyone knows about that?

Well first and foremost we need some more information - what MPC are you using? how do you playback your sound? What is your sample source etc etc

I guess he´s using a Ren or Studio, because he talks about software and controllers...

pcpat, are you using the Ren with the internal audio interface? If so, try an external interface, because the Ren one is really crappy!

I am Running MPC Rennaissance on windows 7
Using update 1.6 everything was running perfectly.
Working with MPC since November 2012 without any problems on all updates.

Since about one week the MPC output distorts the music after playing around with it.
When you change the samplerate in the preferences the distortion stops for a few minutes but then comes back.

Have installed update 1.8 everything collapsed. Screenfreeze - not even able to move the mouse inside mpc software. Deisntalled and reinstalled everything with 1.7. Worked about 5 minutes than crashed again when uploadimg a project were I am working. Nothing works anymore. I am very upset - as I have production deadlines for labels.

thx for your reply. I am using REN with the internal audio interface. i have got an external interface (using it to upstream live radio shows on the web).
probably a stupid question: how would you have to set it up by running REN with an external interface?

well not very much feedback to my post. a little bit disappointing for a so called forum.
anyway after even at akai nobody is able to give me an answer I continued to help myself.
here again my equipment:
mpc ren running on windows 7

problem:
when working on a project after a couple of minuste the output sound gets distorded. you can stop the distortion by changing the sampe rate from 44 to 48 in the preferences but the distorting comes again very quickly. I think that problem most come from the audio set up in the preferences. by changing the audio device type from asio to windows audio and the output speakers to akai you can aslo stop the distortion. however by changing the setup a new problem occurs. the timing is not synchronized anymore and the pads are reacting with a time delay.

maybe someting is wrng wth the audio driver of akai.

It reasonable posting this in Getting started, but if you had posted this in the Ren/Studio section you'd have better chances of getting a faster reply, just that more ppl hang around in there.

How much is your Buffer Size in preferences?
Have you tried increasing it?

The only people obliged to give you support for your MPC are Akai, the people on this 'so called forum' (freely helping MPC users for over 12 years) are fellow users like yourself and choose to help out if and when they can. No need for the bad attitude.

People come onto here giving the briefest of information and rudeness and expect everyone to help them immediatly.
A lot of the time when you help someone they disappear without a trace leaving you wondering whether they ever came back for the answer or just took it and ran.

To the so called 'forum member'

I do not know the Ren at all but most MPCs have a master gain control in the software that allows you to decrease the gain in the output as you have more samples playing simultaneously to avoid distortion.

This may or may not be a solution to your problem so worth trying.

However I am no expert, just a member of this 'so called forum'

just got carried away - as there is no solution in sight - somehow frustrating

the distortion is unfortunately not a volume or gain problem.
it is rather a digital distortion which seems to be realted to the audio device set up in the preferences

Cool.
In the audio section in preferences, yes.
You can change the Audio Buffer Size, yes.
If you increase it you'll increase latency as well... mad, i kno.

I'm assuming you at 64, I'd suggest, increase to 128 and work for a bit if it starts distorting again increase to 192, if it starts distorting again increase to 256... till you find the setting your machine can cope with.

or beef it up with more ram ;-/
