Question For DAW Users

Ok! Why do you transfer your MPC projects into your daw of choice? and what features do you actually use in your daw to complete your mpc projects? We know first and foremost AUDIO TRACKS! So what else?

ΕQs, compressors and such.

Difference is... I don't use my DAW to complete my MPC projects. I use the MPC as an instrument in my DAW projects. That's the difference in perspective right there... which is why many people that want the MPC to be a DAW don't understand why DAW-based users don't see it as a high priority.

This is your daw feature list. The question is what features do you actually use to complete a mpc project in your daw?

EQs, compressors and other effects are plugins. You can use them in the MPC software.

This is exactly my point... your perspective is "use a DAW to complete an MPC project". That's not what I do... I use the MPC as an instrument in a DAW project (but it really sucks right now). You start with the MPC... I start with the DAW... The list I provided you, that's my answer. I use those features all the time - things that I could never do in only the MPC software - even if they add audio tracks.

Now that doesn't mean audio tracks aren't important to have - like I said - I get it. You want audio tracks, I'm all for it - you need it, because you want to start and finish with the MPC. For the work I do, the MPC is just an instrument for me - nothing more. Hence, plugin mode is a high priority for me.

Just because they add audio tracks to the MPC doesn't make it a DAW. Maybe DAW-like... but when you consider the list of things that a true DAW can do, that's not the MPC - nor should it ever be. I guess my answer isn't relevant to your topic. Apologies if not. Thought I was answering the question, but may have misinterpreted.

Not following your "once they add it" point. Of course if they add it, you'll be able to do it.

The problem is that it's not there now, nor are we guaranteed that it will ever be. But DAWs can do all of this now.

I think it may come down to preference.

To me, it make more sense to do everything on the MPC and use mixing plugins to finalize the track/song.

I think some may perfer to use DAW just for their own workflow

Yep, and neither are in a state where you can do that 100%. Standalone folks need audio tracks, and DAW folks need a plugin.

They won't admit it but some would prefer the mpc to be nothing but a plugin or plugin first. Self contained second smh.

Real talk you paid for it so you want to keep using it even if it's not needed. People doing music that matters don't use 80% of a daw's capabilities.
