I purchased the MPC Touch the other day, I had mixed feeling about it but a couple people told me how they like it a lot so I decided to buy it, the whole time wondering if the "touch screen" is just too gimmicky. I got it and began to load it up and it did not go smoothly during the installation, and on top of that the midi did not work properly (notes would hang up and get stuck) and I was ready to through it out the window, after troubleshooting it I discovered that I had a bad installation file so I downloaded it again and installed it rather smoothly. One thing to point out is that you really need to restart your computer each time it tells you to.
Anyway, after actually using it for a few hours I am very pleased with how it handles. The pads feel great and very responsive as do the touchscreen. Everything just seemed to move so quick for me using the touchscreen, it is laid out in a way that makes sense. The new sounds are really nice especially the drums, they sound great. Everything performs as you would expect it to, I believe that this is the future (touchscreens). Having only four Q-links didn't slow me down at all because you can cycle through the 4 banks to have access to 16 Q-links, I am very pleased with my purchase. For mostly everything you do not need to look at your computer screen except for saving, starting a new project, and working with VSTs (unless I've missed something). When working with VST instruments I had to look at the screen to change my preset open up certain views (Omnisphere and Trilian are examples). All in all this was probably not meant to be a replacement for the Ren but it very well could be depending on your individual taste and need but I can tell you that the touchscreen is dope.
