Sp 404sx with Mpc studio

Hi

i just got a sp 404 sx and i want to use it as a effecter when i make beats in mpc studio
what do i have to do?
how do i hook this things up?

i'm new to hardware kinda stuff..

You gonna need an interface with Send and Return. The Send should connect in the 404 Inputs and the 404's Outputs should connect into Return. With that, you be able to lace 404fx over the Studio's sounds.

But when you said 404 inputs do you mean the Line in?or midi in??cause i can't find anything that says input..

and when i do that will i able to lace 404fx individualy?

like i want to do reverb for kick
and tape echo for snare and stuff like that

or will it be just 1 fx on the whole song??

sorry im such a beginner at hardware

and im from korea so my english might sound weird..

What you are asking for is not really possible.... You could go line out from mpc into line in on the 404 and sample some of the sounds from the studio into the 404 and then apply effects. For what you are asking which is individual effects on each sample you will need to use the mpc software and apply separate effects on each track. Maybe watch come you tube tutorials or buy mpc tutors book on this website.

Indeed, and don't forget to keep the EXT. SOURCE button ON for the 404 for the effects to wet the Studio sounds.

I suggest you just use the SP for sampling purposes...

Run audio thru the SP...add effect and sample into the MPC software to save yourself time and headache.

Once samples are in the MPC software, make the beat....mix and done.

ok so i'm think of buying an audio interface with a send and return function if there is one..

or should i just buy mixer called XENYX Q802USB cause i saw there is send and return function..

i'm in my office right now so i have to go out quickly..

Then if i buy something with more send return chnl will i able to do what i want??

and how would that work?? i could imagine putting fx on the whole song but i can't really think how things would work doing seperation fx on samples..

and if there is any audio interface or mixer you recommend please let me know!!

You can do all of the things you want with the mpc studio software... You do not need to buy external hardware. Is there a certain reason that you need extra hardware?

A solution for this will be time consuming.

Why, because you WANT to use the 404fx effects separately on diff samples.
That machine doesn't have the features to separate fx per sample, it also doesn't have
individual outs to assign separate samples, your stuck with total fx on the main outs.
Is that right? I don't have a 404fx but I've read a lil of the manual, just a lil.

So, in 404fx you'd have to put fx on a sample, record that sample in mpc. EACH ONE.
When you finally get them all in mpc they will permanent effected samples (we call that "printed audio"
cause it's permanent). IF you wanna change something you will have to do that all over again for that sample/samples. It's the long way around as there is NO feature IN the 404fx/mpc that can make it easier.

Because you WANT the 404 in the equation this is what your stuck with. No extra gear needed, just time and patience.

It'll end up being more fun and less time consuming making the beats in the 404SX if it's not that big of a project. You can always export loops from the 404 into the MPC software and finish things up in there. Definitely take advantage of the 404SX as a standalone unit. It's a fun starting point to build upon, and you can bring it anywhere you might wanna be inspired to make a beat.
