Do you have any plans to integrate the 5000 with the upcoming Renaissance software where the 5000 could be used as an advanced controller? We know that we'll be able to trigger pads but what about sample editing, importing through USB, and q-link mapping?

that'd be awesome, but I'm not sure if it's technically possible through USB. maybe midi, and that would probably delay the firmware even further. I'd rather get the bug fixes out of the way on the 5000 before diving in to something like that.

Also, one thing to note, is renaissance and studio can both export a project as MPC5000, so you could export everything, throw it on a CF card or the 5k hard drive and take the project with you, should you want to. it also exports as 500/2500/1000.

Ultimately, it would great if Akai could do the 5000 integration with the Renaissance software, then sell the software on it's own to us 5000 owners. I would have no problem paying for just the software if the integration was deeper then just triggering pads. Hopefully, You guys will seriously consider this option.

If Akai allow the legacy MPC's to work with the REN software it would be one of the greatest things they've ever done.

If this is something they haven't thought of them self after all those years of developing the new MPC's, I wouldn't hold my breath......

See, the whole thing is, it doesn't matter what ANY of us say. In reality, the number 1 thing on Akai's mind right now is selling units. It doesn't matter what a rep tells us might happen or not. If the controllers sell very well, then they probably won't even have to take the time to fix bugs and/or add features, because they've already sold well.

My take on this is the more that they can sell, the better that they can do in the future, and if they keep on being successful, then they can then hire more staff to work on software and hardware updates. The less successful they are, then who knows what might happen. I've been watching Akai for a second, and it seems that this new product line came out of nowhere, but we all know nothing happens overnight.

As far as my experience with Akai, I haven't had to really message them to get any help, I've found it on my own (and this forum.) I don't know too much specifically about how they operate, but they are a legitimate business it would seem. Kind of like that movie with Will Smith where he's trying to sell that machine, 'The Pursuit of Happiness' I believe. They're trying to sell their product, but no matter how good or bad it is, it's still going to sell based upon how they hit the market.

I, for one, was hoping Akai would just make a beefier MPD series, but when I seen these on their website, I was instantly interested. Although they seem to be being a direct competitor to the Maschine, I'm sure Akai has something up their sleeves that will make this all worthwhile.

I played the Ren at NAMM, and I can say it was pretty impressive with no latency.

For people that used the computer for drum sounds and loops, this is the ultimate, I have a 4000 and 5000. I was always wondering which would eventually win out as my main studio unit. Always leaning on the 4000, but after seeing and playing the Ren, playing the demo at NAMM, and having 40 tons of new sounds and loops available instantly from the file browser, I think I'm gonna have no choice but to go with the Ren, because of the instant fast access of ALL my sounds instantly from that browser.

It may or may not matter what any of us say here....but I can tell you Akai has set out to make these products right. Their plan is to make sure the OS is solid and also sprinkle in a few feature requests....with additional features added in the future.
