MPC REN the most important MPC EVER

I think it's going to be Maschine carbon copy with a more expensive interface. Then when the Linn Drum 2 comes out and everybody flocks to it, Numark is going to go back to hardware MPCs.Just my opinion.

As I have seen both products, I can certainly tell you it is not a carbon copy of Maschine...not as if being a copy of Maschine is a bad thing. Maschine has some features that would be awesome in the Ren and vice versa.

Some features that make the Ren standout (software-wise) over Maschine are (not all inclusive):
1. Traditional track based sequencing (linear or looping)
2. Dedicated Modes for Track and Pad Muting
3. Pad and Track Mixers
4. Full screen program editing (up to 96 params displayed on one screen)
5. Quick pad layering in addition to Simult Pad
6. Effects (4 Insert/Send FXs per pad, 4 Insert/Send FXs per track, Master Effects, etc)
7. Improved Chopping
8. Supports file loading from legacy MPCs; exports files that can be read by current MPCs

The Ren's interface is righfully so more expensive than Maschine. The Ren is not a light-weight throw in your backpack and jump on the train type of product. The MPC Studio is Maschine's direct competitor and they are very close in price.

the real question is, will JJ have to step in to do OS maintenance for Ren

He doesn't need to look over at the Ren. He should focus on fixing the 128 OS that is receiving rave reviews.

I should be giving my review within the next week or so when my 2500 and XL screen arrives.. Its almost $300 for the screen and software.

Im bit sceptic about the 128OS and its level of maturity, might be a while before it's worth jumping on. Matter of fact personally could care less for the 128OS if I can get support for the screen with JJXL..

but you're right maybe he should focus on the 128OS, then save the 5k owners then Ren

JJ Sequencer didn't turn out too hot. The Ren is in good hands already.

Yeah if I didnt have a 4k the Ren would probably be a no brainer for me. I copped another 2500 a couple of months ago. Making beats on it with JJ OSXL is a breeze, but mutitracking into Pro Tools is a ****.

My 4k digitally tethered to my DAW with ADAT and S/PIDF is the way to go.

It sure is hilarious to read about folks debating on counting the chickens before the eggs hatch.

I like the new XL screens, I'm seeking to save up for a 2500 SE but I can live with the 1000 having a big screen. Now if JJ and MPC Stuff manage to mod the USB to make it sample, MIDI, audio, then that would destroy sales for the Ren. You'll be able to sample straight off the internet or music files of your choice and its a controller too. That'll be the day.

A mod to sample over USB would be a waste of time and money. USB to 1/4 audio cable is cheap.

There is nothing that can be done to a legacy MPC to negatively impact the sales of the Ren. The only thing that will negatively impact the Ren is a lack of Akai support. Akai's parent has been making some nice moves in bringing other brands to the fold. Can't wait to see how this impacts the Ren and future MPCs.

Jah, you know I give you respect in terms of technical know how & all that jazz. But keeping it on the real, Akai support is a game in itself, and you know that.

Wishful thinking is an entity of it's own. Just slow down on the pre's and wait until we actually "see" some progress in the works from Akai itself.

But you guys say that as if Akai's support is the worst company in the industry. I already gave numerous examples of how Akai samplers are better supported than the competition and products that don't directly compete with them. I gave plenty examples how companies dropped support of their products or simply went out of business. If you have something new to add...I am certainly listening and willing to discuss. What sampler is better supported than Akai samplers?

And quite honestly, I don't share the same frustration as many in this forum. Every MPC I have ever purchased does what I need it to do.

Since I have seen the development, I am getting a good vibe and choose to stay positive which is good for the forum aka team. All the roster spots for the naysayers are taken.
