The new units/software should run fine on any recent PC or Mac with 4-8GB of RAM. But as Maschine has shown the VST hosting can become an issue without proper multicore support. (You can use all your RAM in Maschine 64x but it runs everything on one core and pounds the hell out of it.)

I don't know about multiple cores, but I did ask Dan about the 64 bit thing a while back. He said there will be a 64 bit version, and it will run 32 bit VST's! :D

We run Macs over here, and i suggest all my fellow beat smiths do the same, you'll feel the difference.

Yikes sounds like another "wrapper". Not a specific shot at Akai, just the industry as a whole. It's 2012, every VST/AU should ship both 32/64, then we can do away with ILbridge and jbridge (still great the guy released it) and maybe Ableton will come out of hiding. I have Omni and all that type of stuff so using all 24GB of my RAM can be convoluted unless I use a 64x host and only 64x plugs. But like most of us 70% of my stuff is 32bit.

I was skeptical about how these new units are coming off a relatively short development cycle. But they seem to be on the right track and it might only be typical 1.0 issues that are to be expected. So I wouldn't be surprised if they make sure to have proper multicore support. I'm pretty sure NI will bring it back in Maschine 2.0 and also that they will release in the window right before the Ren/Studio have official dates. That's cool everybody wins as these two firms will do battle. Akai must have saw NI's success with just simply taking heed to user requests. You guys have done a great job these last few months in expressing those wants.

Watch it be 64bit/Multicore/thread aware and everybody will want a beast pc/mac just to see 20GB of Omni multis "in" an MPC. :D

You won't need JBridge. The x64 MPC software will be able to run 32 bit plugins natively without the use of any 3rd party bridgers, according to Dan.

This will be great because the JBridge shit is cool, but it's not really working out for me with Maschine. It's partly JBridges short coming as well as Pro Tools' short coming. I'll have my 64 bit Maschine running with JBridge working great and everything is cool. I like to track my beats into Pro Tools in real time. The problem with that is Pro Tools is still 32 bit, so opening up Maschine in rewire opens up Maschine 32 bit. And when you use JBridged versions of the plugins in 64 bit mode, then load the beat in 32 bit mode, the plugins come up unfound, even though the plugins are natively 32 bit. So I bought the JBridge shit and don't even use it because of this.

So, according to what Dan has said, this should not be a problem with the new MPC's.
