I dont understand why yer so emotionally involved with the ren....sure it doesnt matter what you use.....so why the continued defence and dare i say promoting of the ren by yourself....why not a more chilled approach like lamp & co ala lets wait n see......

I`m only emotional like you I figure over music. Gear is just gear a tool to express ideas, emotions and feelings. Yes, it is indeed a 25yr old paradigm that I have been waiting over 7 plus yrs back when the old 4k OS was changed into the 5 and aksys was not updated. I kept it moving and I worked with many different gears and instruments but I see the potential and I want hint, hint Akai to continue to make new units whatever they are for the next 25 yrs.

I will say this that balance is need on the forum as many that say the product is doomed with as many that say it can succeed and just balanced discussion. No name calling, I hate you statements or label just because someone want to buy one and it makes no different if they do..

well if you look back in the forum to the time when the 4k came out you will see a lot of complaints, a large bug list compiled after akai reps in here had mentioned a possible new os...and even several posts about if people would pay for a mansell labs / jjos type upgrade....but when people realise that there will be no new os, they just make the best out of what they have.....

tbh I am really surprised that akai will bring out a new os for the mpc5k, i mean why bother wasting resources on a dead horse? it will bring them no new revenue...they have abandoned the standalone hardware model....

if theyre gonna waste their time on that, please ask your rep friends to push for an upgrade to the mpc4k instead!!! :|

I definitely don't see the game-changer aspects of the Ren. The market is saturated with controllers and software. True, its proven to be a quick option in the studio but nothing ground breaking but changeable lights of the pads.

I do see it as a great studio tool, because it has everything out the box except a Mac. Because you get a controller, interface, DAW, and a virtual MPC, but EMU and MOTU are the first ones to do it since 1998, in fact I remember MOTU as Mark of the Unicorn before they shortened it. So its not new, which is my gripe, its just like the Hip Hop on the radio, there's too much wanna-be-likes instead of envelope pushers.

There is a new family of mpc coming to the market and a new family of users coming to the forum and some members like myself and others you too will buy a new mpc that is all and that it cool. The new Ren isn`t exactly better than a hardware mpc we have now and I could`t say it is better than the 4k I have now. I will say that software integration is great though once the final model drops for a software based studio. Many users who have moved into a software based production I dare say will like it a lot. We are all the part of the same family so all the infighting among ourselves is for nought.

i dont think people are hatin on the mpc ren .. i just think they want thiers moneys worth .. and they came here 2 .. give feed back ... bad feed back and good feedback .. only makes u better .. WERE ALL JUST PASSIONATE ABOUT ARE MUSIC .. and want a dope product thats all ... well i do

I call BS on this one. Plenty of forum members visit this section just to troll and insult forum members that are looking forward to these new MPCs. This includes some of the things you wrote. Nobody really believes you plan on buying one of these new MPCs. You do know this right?

I would think that Forum members that are passionate about making music, would spend more time making music and/or talking about products that they actually use or plan on using.

...and all the feedback in the world will not change the fact that the MPC Ren/Studio are not standalone products.

You are so right gentle i remember and we all know the outcome a new 5k came out instead life goes on. And I got the same comment about talking to my contact but you see he is not the head of the company the CEO is and the planners make the decision he isn't the problem.

And yes when people realize that no OS came they still make music like you say nothing can stop us but us. And the same people will realize no new hardware is coming they will keep what they have or buy it used and still make music.

I do disagree on no new revenue statement, I mean it will revive their market share and make bring in the next generation of users.

I use maschine along with my 4k and I always come back to my 4k cuz of the ease and the familiar the Ren would definitively replace my maschine and the software integration with give me more access to more soft samples and synths that the 4k takes time to set up.

Anyways back to the thread this is a video that compares a mpc to maschine which in a way will be traditional mpc to the new mpcs.

And I see the new Ren working in the same style and ease.

See a great cat working just with the gear. The new mpcs will work the same no screen is necessary.

Except that you need a computer at all times. Might as well use my MPC 2000XL so I don't have to lug around a laptop (and don't forget there are people out there without laptops) to sequence my midi.

Renaissance is a sweep under the rug. Any intelligent producer isn't going to properly justify spending 1200 on a midi controller with pads and knobs. MPDs and Midi keyboards are like a 100 bucks!

To each his own. We can both agree though it is all about the music. Any competent producer would make music on anything. The sticky is the included software. Logic is excellent, ableton is great all with the great mpds and such. A dedicated interface with mpc software will rock just like the maschine does. Though I wish it was a little cheaper. Anyways I predict after a yr or two and maschine 2 or something else comes out people could pick up a used one pretty easily it happens all the time.
