Some Maschine workflow I would like in Ren

Looks like an Apple only app. But it is the same principle as the sound flower app that works on PC and Apple.

i just set maschine to external sample source and sample whate ever is on the desktop but i use the soundblaster audigy

But what is the point in using 3rd party software to sample instead of using your sampler? Seems cumbersone and unnecessary.

Third party software can be very effective for capturing sounds of different types off of youtube and the latter. I myself have only done it once with sound flower to bring it into my audio editor to edit and convert it into waves especially using my sound card to both play and record the internal sound source. Anyways I am not promoting wiretap just showing one of the ways to find and record samples in the 21 century.

Swing settings in global and per group which could equate to global swing on all tracks or individual swing per tracks in the mpcs.

Especially when theres a free app that let's you sample directly into Maschine! And online solutions for converting youtube vids to mp3's for free.

I just don't understand why anyone would need any 3rd party app to record when Maschine does it just fine. And of course you can drag audio from Maschine to an audio editor if needed...noting that if NI improves sampling/sample editing, there would be fewer reasons to use another app.

I am bringing this up because the subject is workflow. So I hope Akai adds all the essential and popular sampling and sample editing tools within the MPC Ren. Then I won't need additional software to accomplish what can be done within the Ren.

Maschine cannot record your computer audio directly without a 3rd party app. You have to have an interface and a physical connection from your computer's soundcard output going to the interface. And like I mentioned, many people don't use interfaces with their laptops. And you can't import MP3's. So the time you take to convert a youtube vid to MP3, then convert it to Wav, you're better off just recording the parts you want directly into Maschine via 3rd party app. It's a matter of changing two preference settings to make the connection.

However, I prefer SoundFlower over the Wire Tap. Wire Tap looks like you have to record to the actual app. SoundFlower provides a virtual connection between your built-in audio and DAW. I guess Wire Tap would be more useful for people that don't make music and just want to record stuff from the net! Plus there's the fact that SoundFlower is free and Wire Tap is $70!

Sorry Hellfire but I can record directly from You Tube into Maschine without 3rd party app.

Nothing special is needed just a sound card, audio interface, or keyboard with USB audio with ASIO drivers. For me....I just use my Fantom G and its ASIO drivers. You Tube may use the default audio device of your computer. So ensure your audio device is setup in your PCs systems preferences. Within Maschine, choose the same audio device in its preferences. If you don't have the proper ASIO driver, your audio interface will only work within one app. If you can hear audio from a video playing on You Tube and hear audio from Maschine at the same time, then everything is set up perfectly. You will now be able to record directly into Maschine from You Tube. iTunes will work the same way.

Basically...this should work with most devices that can input and output audio at the same time.

Thanks Jah and it may work well with your setup. I just try on my iMac with my motu sound card and no dice. I may be missing a step I believe it may be aggregate device on the mac i`m not sure. I guess we have to use what we have.

This is the app sound flower that Hellfire talked about until then for routing internal audio into maschine.

The key is your drivers. On a Mac using my Fantom G, I can record from You Tube or iTunes the same. So while I can sample from You Tube without issue using my Fantom, I have no such luck with my Apollo interface. RME interfaces should work on both PC and Mac when it comes to recording audio from the internet; great drivers.

CoreAudio is the only driver on the iMac. Seems you are routing your audio from your fantom g to your maschine. I don`t know but to get back on track. If the user can get it to work great. The video shows working with the sample mostly when you have it inside your maschine.

I am no export of Mac anything. But in my examples...the Fantom G works just the same and the Apollo doesm't. I am just using the Fantom G as Maschine's audio interface. If your Motu audio card has a software mixer, you may be able to route its output to an input. If so...you are in business.

You posted the videos with dude using 3rd party software to do what Maschine can do with the right device. Hopefully, someone can take something away from me sharing my experience regardless of how it works. Seems like you feel I am going off track....so I will fall back.....
