We have to acknowledge everyone can't afford mid-range/high-end gear. So buying a low cost alternative is the only choice.

Exactly how does that excuse AKAI for delivering a product that doesn't work? When someone spends their hard earned money on a product they have a reasonable expectation that it functions properly. Akai is selling a product that hasn't worked correctly since it's launch.

How are Ren's the audio drivers performing for the Ren Jah?
We know you can talk about it because you have already publicly disclosed how the "high speed MIDI"drivers perform, pad responsiveness ,etc. - so there's no need for you or anyone else to mention any NDA.

You love to take a statement and run with it...right into a wall.

Hellfire asked why would someone want to buy an Akai interface. While I personally would choose something in the mid-range others had to settle on something more reasonably priced. You don't own the Akai product in question. So it would be nice if you finally speak on something you have actually used or have real knowledge on. Mmmmkaay. Anybody purchasing a product that doesn't work can simply return it...Akai interface, MPC, or otherwise.

I am actually impressed with everything from timing and latency to the pads. And I truly believe MPC users wanting to do production in the box with this MPC DAW will enjoy using it. Of course someone will come along and call it propaganda. So ignore me, don't ask me questions.....try it for yourself when it is released.

But I will continue to visit the forum to talk about MPCs (any MPC) like I have for the past 10 years or so. Yes, I know I said it before and sound like a broken record. But then again...so does everyone else that posts in this forum.

According to you...Akai is not a reputable brand for doing anything. So if you are not questioning the drivers...you will be questioning something else.

How comparable is the latency of ren vs hardware mpc's?

hardware mpc = imperceptible latency

ren = high latency due to it´s dependence on a computer. the more effects and sound generators one loads the higher the latency gets.

A hardware MPC also depends on its CPU, memory, and effects processor. Use all of its memory, all of its tracks, and apply an effect to all your programs.....sluggishness if it doesn't crash or freeze.

Compare Apples to Apples:

Hardware MPC using 512 MB of samples + internal 4-buss effects = imperceptible latency

MPC Ren using 2 GB of samples + 4 of the included effects = imperceptible latency

Now if you think you are going to run 128 tracks, 8 GB of samples, VSTs, and effects on every track/pad and still think you can record from the pads and get the same performance....you certainly shouldn't be using this product.

Basically...it seems those of us MPC users that have also embraced Maschine are the only ones that can visualize the Ren's potential. You can join the movement or just jump on the bandwagon a little later. :smoker:

i run maschine with 1.5 gb ram on win7 using an amd ahtalon x400 dual and i can have two vsts running in maschine and a bunch of fx and with no delay between me pressing a pad and the sound triggering.

so there is no latency issue with todays pcs

You'd have to assume everyone has the same computer, to do a proper comparison.
