People don't use mpc's stand alone like they keep pushing in the demo's.
You have to use as a plug or be able to sync to make any type of real modern music...

What do you mean by saying "people don't use MPC's standalone"?

MIDI Clock sync is provided. The MPC Ren must be the Master.

that doesn't do the trick for me, there is a thread with Dan around this:

Only way I see this Work for me is run MPC Soft Standalone as Midi Beat Clock slave to PT which acts as master.

I would the connect the 4 MPC Outs to my PTHD Rig for the 3000 sound.

Is, will this be possible?

MPC Ren cannot be a MIDI Clock Slave when not used as a plugin...only a Master. I wrote a thread about Sync'ing the Ren like a traditional MPC. You make be able to use something from that to fit your situation.

Dorsey I'm curious as I prefer 32bit as my Korg collection is still in that format even though I have waves, kontakt, ominsphere and the whole nine like you. I ran 64bit with the shell on a 4G iMac 2.8Ghz (though I plan to upgrade soon) I didn't like my sound but logic didn't crash on me. Why don't you use 64 bit with wrappers and how many sf instrument tracks do you run at a time?

I admit I don't do big sessions about 15 tracks that I bounce to audio and I'm no pro either but I use maschine, spark, ultrabeat, kontakt, and 4k to get the job done.

ok, do you have a link to that thread?

Keep in mind Pro Tools can not be slaved using Beat Clock....

When using HD Rig its not possible to use MP as interface as device aggregation is not supported.

This leaves the cats with one option :-) record and nudge like in the old days !!!

C'mon moyphee you know it is just a tool for music and what counts is the tracks, we are not here to collect gear.

You aren't interested in the Ren so what is going on? 4k is still going to make beats for years to come. You gotta use what works for ya. Ren has potential from the get go so I'm buying when it's released our here as I have been saying from Jan.

This would be an interesting title for a debate.

It's not a know the Ren. There's a difference between coached celeb testimonial and real user statements. More valuable than any of these vids are the words of actual users. I'm not knocking marketing but when I see these vids they all come off as scripted.

The other thing is that when it comes to celeb endorsements usually none of there music was made on the product they endorse. Secondly when you see them down the road they still aren't using it. This reminds of how JD was praising the MV when you could tell he saying what he was asked to say.

The product has the ability to stand on it's own merit without fluff. I think people appreciate real world use than celeb spots. As an example, the svankov demo sold more APC40s than any celeb ever could. Then there's 9th Wonder rocking out with a 1000. A celeb using what he actually uses but not picked as an endorser. Thez all i'm saying.

I don't mean to sound like my way is the only way , but 99% of all industry tracks are done in software , its just so much that goes on with fx, editing ....
Listen to dubstep in abelton, very involved, vs dubstep triggered from an mpc , its just different now days , everything sounds so heavily produced .....

But anyway here is what I found in logic ....

My earlier rant was somewhat fixed by 2 things ,
Run the ren in 32 bit bridge in logic you Must change the preferences in ren to 1mb limit
Then you can load way more and not get the dreaded out of memory error
........ But with that method here are the huge issues
1. When trying to open the GUI for ren plug in , it most times gives me the spinning ball and the ren hardware screen says ( computer lost communication) big problem
2. When u can get it open , and you load any plug in track like the wub, and click on edit to open wub you cannot click anything , it won't respond

Second way is set logic to send and receive mmc , have the ren send it in standalone mode.
Transports on the ren will start logic, but you have to make sure they are both set to the same tempo
And its kind of awkward.... Logic won't slave to MIDI clock and mtc I cannot make work right all

64 bit would fix everything!

There is a difference here most of the users that bought Ren are happy with their purchase and the producers were consulted about the product before it was made, so of course they want to use it. So your point isn't all there and what is the point it works and I can make music with it. And you are going to continue with the 4k why all the
Random posts about real users, like tutor, hf, lamp, switch, and a gang of other aren't real users and we all are just dazzle by lights and pete and prem together. C'mon I know you got no love for Jah and I don't know about whether you do for akai but my 4k is fine I love it and akai Japan did fine by me. You need to relax and make beats the Ren is no threat to you.

When I see the videos I see a detailed description of what is can do as a visual manual once I get mine it is up to me to make the magic happen. I don't think anybody needs a celebrity endorsement to buy it just try it for themselves. But if the heart and mind is so set in stone that one can't see what they could do with it just walk away and be content with what you have.

If it was a 4k I would still watch just to see what they would do and explain. You don't see it that way though. Next year will you still be here complaining about the same after it has gotten established in many studios?
