Please, do tell!

That's the reason that made me read this thread - so far, I am not as enlightened as I hoped to. :-D

Oh, and did I tell my Ren hasn't crashed since 1.2?

I'm getting the crash-upon-saving again...happened five times with this song now :Sigh:
Christ. Really gets on my nerves.
Wish we had the EFFING crash logs; even in this case, I'm sure the devs could see, "Ah, so when thing X happens when saving, it makes it crash, so let's fix it", but no...now we're in this crashing hell, and who's going to fix it??

OSX always generates a crash log. Window's doesn't?

I am using Windows 7.

I experience two types of crashes:

1) REN software crash. Sometimes loading a file, sometimes saving a file, sometimes in the middle of editing.

2) Blue Screen Of Death. Usually when running a stress test where I let the Ren run for 24 hours. BSOD does provide hex crash data.

It seems the VSTi's are the major cause of the crashes. I quit using the Ren in February due to the crashes. The release 1.3 did not fix my crashes and had the stupid second monitor resolution issue.

I am wait for V1.4 before proceeding back to testing the REN. Meanwhile, I use Sonar X2a, my vintage Gibson guitars, my super reliable Roland synths and Omnisphere.

I found playing with a real drummer to be a fantastic break from this computer nonsense. My drummer, bass player, vocalist and I do not crash and actually make great music.

After reading this i'm glad that before MPC Ren and Ableton i have used mostly ******* software and because of them learned to save often..now when i moved from ****** to the MPC software and Ableton live they still crashes. So i'ts not the ******* team wich is making sloppy job..hehheh..

So i ment unauthorized software..not illegal intoxicants..hehheh..

Im on a Mac. Is the OSX crash log relevant to Ren devs?
I meant software-generated crash pack.
Live does those, and Ive sent them to Ableton several times and received a very specific explanation, and the bugs have been fixed. Their crash reports work wonders.

yes

but is the responsibility akai's to be up to date and familiar with such third party documentation, or akai's customers' obligation to report the details of such logs to akai? :hmmm:

That's great about Ableton and Propellerhead..when they have a minor problem on the software they'll fix it asap.
But both of those have over 10 years of development and knowledge behind.
Great companies both. I'm just waiting to get Re-Wire to MPC Ren..

Exactly. Learn from the masters. The journey to great knowledge is taken in small steps - crash report being an important one.
I'm not a dev but I can guess those are vital.
As a software company, Akai is a newbie, and they have a lot to learn, and we're trying to help them out.

Akai is just the name of the brand/product. Google the names of the actual Ren/Studio developers.

Crash reports help but without knowing the actual steps it took to produce the crash is equally or more important. Crash reports don't provide this information.

Even without the crash reports, bugs forum members have found through typical use have been getting fixed with ever update to include the upcoming 1.4.
