maybe a tester can reply with a  for yes there are audio tracks coming or a  for no not this release

but yeah i'd kill for audio tracks, they should make it possible to set up an audio track that would work like a looper. i'm also a bit of a guitarist as well as producer so with the addition of the audio tracks, the ren would be a real monster if it could combine sampling and sequencing with a clever audio track/loop function

Pete ruled out audio tracks yesterday.

What a bummer, the is one of the most requested features.

The problem right now is, that it is neither both in full blown potential. Not a full blown DAW and not a full blown instrument, nor does it have true support for a full blown DAW. If you want to work in a professional environment, you're stuck somewhere in between, the amateur zone.

And in reality, we are talking about the second "flagship device" with major quirks.

Just drop the fuggin update already. At the very least, it will be an improvement/addition (hopefully) to functionality we currently have.

I think the Ren was a rushed product to begin with.. so this update should make up for it.. it's nice to see that they putting in work though

If they just get stabilize the software I can't complain. Sure I would like to see a few more things, because we're in the technology age and they can be done, but how much do you need to make a track, that in some cases may never be heard

Exactly!

How is it not a full blown instrument I work with professionals, real professional that produced some of the best hip hop out and they use the mpc ren and some people use mpc with way less features and and still bang out hits a ren is fully capable of banging great tracks , the tools doesn't make you professional or not. It's the user not the mpc or the software people today are just spoiled
I'm starting to realize most beat makers today love to blame the equipment for their own lack of skill

Today's beat makers are usually wacky, so that's not it. But if we look at today's tools then the MPC-software lacks on lot of levels, in compatibility with other software. Sure things can be done. But it needs too many unnecessary steps. While other software has capabilities, the MPC-software doesn't do. It's that simple. Thus the list by the O.P.. And the software as it is, doesn't even have some of the capabilities older MPC's have. Which I have requested as well, to make the software better.

I play the keyboard (Yamaha MOX6) and drums (Yamaha DTX) by the way. :P And basically I could go way back, using a 4track recorder, since great hits were made that way.

If you'll go to the Akai forum, you'll hear many professionals complain about different issues. You also have to look at the setup of these "real professionals" you know, of which you speak of wholeheartedly".

No, don't own the 60, I do have the 5000.

But what peripheral equipment did you use besides the 60, or rather with the 60?

Most mix downs should fine in a daw the problem nowadays people want everything in one box that not what the mpc is designed for I have used every mpc ever made and my personal favorite is the ren outside of the 4000 the 5000 being the worst mpc I have ever used

The older MPC's weren't designed like that, I agree. That's why I asked what hardware peripherals were used, beside the MPC.

The 5000 is a downgraded version of previous MPC's. And yes the workflow is fast on the Ren, but still hasn't some of the features older MPC's have which typify the MPC. Thus there are many complains. So, there are limits within the box. And if you want to use it with other DAW's (Logic, Ableton and Cubase) in my case, you're limited as well outside if the box. Like tracking out the midi data for instance. It's possible, with work arounds. While it can be done in a easy way, with direct input of midi notes. That's how people work nowadays.
